so i want to convert some car drivers to home components, but they are not sheided. how can i MAKE a shield for them. i was thinking about lining the enclosure with foil (1/4 wood, foild, 1/4 wood, foil, 3/4 wood for outside of box) decided this HAD to work...but really whats a guy to do?

Take a magnet of the same value, and stick it on the end of the speaker magnet.

While that sounds like a good idea, it totally doesn't work that way. Shielding is done mounting a reverse-polarized magnet to the back of the speaker's magnet. The shielding magnet needs to be paired with the driver magnet as well... having an unmatched one arbitrarily glued to the back will definitely mess up the magnetic forces needed for the speaker.
Some drivers have optional shielding magnets...

Or you can try to find a generic one that matches yours... but if one isn't available, you are probably SOL.

well that could suck. i want to turn my ti elites into a center channel...
i suppose for the $3 or so it would cost to test this, i would be worth it. seems like the magnet would fuck with the existing magnet making the coil do funky shit

well it is at least a few months out. They are staying in my car until PG releases a new high end speaker. but i will be trying the tv test when they leave my car
basically i have decided that my mid bass is suffering quite a bit i think the neo magnets have lost a ton of their ooomph....could be that my ears are changing...but i dont think they are that much. my deck is now at +4 bass (120hz and down) crossed over at 80 (used to be NO HP_ and my tweets are at -4 also.
and that's just to try and make it sound "acceptable". i have reamed on these guys pretty damn hard with the 200.2 for at least 3 years...so im not too surprised
