Phoenix Gold Phorum

I'm taking advantage of the boxing day sales to upgrade my HT receiver. The sales in Canada are pretty good, the Denon (sold out online before i got there) is $499 , retail $799 while the Yamaha is on sale for $699 , retail price originally $1299.

I bought the Yamaha online already as I don't want to miss out on a good deal but honestly I'd rather save more money so I'm hoping they'll have some more Denon 889's when I drop into the store on boxing day.

Besides the extra power, is there anything really extra that the Yamaha offers over the Denon ?

I am very partial to Yamaha. Keep in mind a large number of sound electronics in studio are labeled Yamaha. I have to say I have never been let down.


Denon is a great product as well but I tend to shy away from them as they have far too many bells and whistles (settings wise) that you'll never use.

I got HK this time the 645 last xmas and the 146 love them both
they were just 2 good to be true $699 645 and $247 146
I do like Denon a little more ussally a bigger power supply (little more head room)
they will both be great units
