Not only is the rendering unimpressive, but the way they describe the vehicle is just too cliche'.
And I love this part.
Seriously, Aliens reference? You just compared your $1,000,000 vehicle to a fake movie vehicle? Add the over the top movie guy voice and you have a perfect sci-fi trailer for this vehicle. The driver's ability to control the Shadow Hawk is intuitive and unprecedented. The closest analogy that comes to mind is Ripley's cargo loader from the movie Aliens. Ripley climbs into the cargo loader and straps herself in, then grabs the controls and moves this impressive monster in every direction she commands. Unfortunately this is just a sci-fi movie! Well, the Shadow Hawk is, in its way, this science fiction brought to life. You climb into the Shadow Hawk, strap yourself in, and grab the steering wheel with its D-Pad controls, raise and lower it, pitch and roll it, and in general you are in complete control of this futuristic machine.
And I love this part.
Yeah, a 4x4 pickup or a Jeep can't take an unknown road off of a highway, you need the "unbelievable range of the adventure seeking" Shithawk, I mean Shadow Hawk. These trips can be anything from crossing the girth of Australia's great outback, to turning off the highway onto an unknown road and following your intuition until you call it a day; wherever that may be. The Shadow Hawk is the only vehicle that offers this unbelievable range of adventure seeking ability.

Yes, it took him something like 5 years in his home shop to pull it off, he made a initial debut at a rock crawling comp a few years back, they wouldn't let him compete because it did not meet construction guidelines for the ruling organization. They did let him run the course, and although he destroyed a lot of stuff on the vehicle, it kept trucking along as he built several things multiply redundant.oldskoolmseriesfan wrote:Holy shit!!! That thing is fucking AWESOME!!!! Did he build it himself?
Since that original run and the publicity on the 4x4 boards died down, no one seems to have seen or heard about it again-- crazy. Back in a minute with something even more out there than the transformer (chain drive rig's name) pretty cool pics of a way out of the box off road buggy!

Here you go, name is given as "hydrodynamic buggy", the builder built the entire thing from the ground up, it has a hydraulic motor at each wheel and no driveshafts/axles limiting it's ground clearance. It's suspension is fully adjustable on the fly, and it is pretty much some of the finest fabrication I have ever seen in the rock crawling genre. It is made entirely of stainless steel, and everything is tig welded. I can link the thread if you want to see the details of the rig.
It may not look as impressive "off the bat" as the transformer rig, but it is a shit ton more reliable and useful off road.

No we cant, well, we can, but it is not that simple. I built the rock buggy in my avatar and spent a fair amount of time researching making it street legal. In my state, you have to apply for a constructed vehicle title from the secretary of state (the vehicle registration authority), then you have to have it inspected by the police to determine if it is road worthy and has all the necessary equipment for running on the street-- i.e. windshield, mirrors, brake lights, headlights, reverse lights, turn signals, and seat belts ect... Provided you pass inspection, then you have to find some underwriter to insure it. 99% of them will not touch a "constructed" vehicle with a 10 foot pole. The 1% that will, will charge 5-10x's the rate of what a production vehicle costs to insure. In the end, it is cheaper to buy a truck and trailer and trailer your "toy" to wherever you want to go...Red Devil wrote:You guys over there, in the USA, don't know how lucky you are![]()
You can built ourselves the car of your dreams (or nightmares for some of them) and drive it on the street.
This is impossible in Europe !!!
That's crazy.
