I have not listend to my system in 3 months

The 1.8 motor that I put in temporarily dropped a valve seat about 3 months ago. I had the option of dumping money into a motor that I purchased for less than 400 bucks. Or, finishing my original 2.0 motor. It was a no brainer.
I have been collecting parts for this motor for almost 2 years

This is a 2liter VW type 4 engine running D-jetronic Fuel injection. I am in the process of putting it back togeather now. I have purchased a slightly more aggressive cam, and bored the cylinders out to gain a few more hp. The heads were rebuilt and came out fantastic. The rocker arms were upgraded to the porsche 911 style swivel feet. I purchased Keith Black pistons, chromoly pushrods etc. This engine is gonna be bad ass
I had all the d-jet wiring rebuilt and powder coated all the tins. I have also purchased a few more guages for the cockpit and traded the stock heat exchangers for a custom header setup.
All good things come to those who wait

I do miss listening to my system though

Anyways,
It has been a long while since I visited, and I thought I would drop in and post some pics of where Im at. I hope to be back on the road within the month.

I am still fine tuning the engine, and have not even turned the stero on yet, I am way too scared I am gonna blow this engine. I need to get the bugs worked out. Little bit of hesitation, a lot of jerky action, and a lot of money invested.
I am pretty sure its down to the idle adjustment (i need to hook up my air/fuel gauge) then i just replaced my throttle position switch today on my lunch, I am pretty sure this has been causing the jerkey action. Next I will drive the hell out of it for a couple of days and just listen to the sound of the engine (make sure everything is O.K.)
and then Finally....
I will start from the begining and tune my system with your guys help of course

man I know that feeling. Driving and watching your gauges more closely then a 16 yr old does his phone.... Listening to every noise, every hesitation/jerk and wonding what it is.... I went through all of it when I had to replace my motor and then after that when I did my head/cam/intake swap. The bad part about the swap was that the cam gave it such a lope that it changed it from a smooth sounding 302 to a car as one person next to me at the light said "Man that thing sounds like its ready to get rowdy...". Don't get me wrong I am not complaining that much but it was like learning the car all over again. Prior to that I could have walked past 100 cars running while I was blindfolded and still told you which car was mine but after I had no clue. I could not help but enjoy the sound but at the same time it was a little scary as well.
I too had to replace my throttle position sensor and it fixed my jerking/hesitation last year, hope it all works out for you. Now you just have a whole lot more crap on yer car to keep clean!

It was the TPS, swapped it out with a known good one and....
It runs like a champ. Pulls strong and no more Bucking. I am very happy

yup made a huge difference in mine as well. Not sure why it didn't matter before the head/cam/intake swap but as soon as that was on there suddenly replacing the tps made it purrr....
