Tibbs' pictures of the fire near his place got me thinking, I'm sure more than a few of us like to take photos. Post your best (or worst!) photos here.

I'll start off... but no laughing, I'm a 35mm noob and I spent almost $100 in total on getting maybe 10 good shots

My favourite stuff so far is macro shots, meh.

NICE!! I like the one with trees the best, but the macro ones are great! I have an old(er) Pentax 35mm SLR that I like to use every now and then, but for the most part anymore I just stick with the wife's digital. Someday I will be able to afford the all mighty digital SLR!

Take a look at these fuzzy, I took these this weekend on a road trip (610 miles and 15 hours) we took on Saturday.

Here's some from Terschelling last year. Quite photogenic there, so it's hard to take a bad pic.

I like the red roofs and the goat-like animals. They look badass!

Tibbs, I love the "red canyon". It sure lives up to it's name. I bet there is some insane off roading around there... My SLR is a Pentax P3n, if I recall correctly. My dad just gave it to me because he doesn't take photos that much anymore. It's got some fairly cheap but get-the-job-done Takumar lens.

Yes they were pretty bad ass. The leader of their pack looked pretty demonic, and they kept inching closer and closer to us. Turns out all they wanted was to be pet and fed.

Goats are some strange ass animals. A friend of mine used to have about 15 and them motherfuckers were annoying as shit, what with all their "Baa"ing and nudging you. You couldn't even get a beer from the fridge without one of them bastards running into you and making crazy noises at you.

Travis, you shooting with the 50mm 1.8? The one with the sand looks like it. That is one of my favorite lenses made by Nikon.

Over the last 2 years, I have shot a lot. All shot with Nikon D50, processed in Photoshop CS3. (no idea what the size is on some of these)

I really like B&W photo's. They just seem to capture the scene better from my POV. The same pic in color just doesn't feel the same. Keep postin!!!!!

Ok, its official..... I hate you all now.

I'd love to be able to have photo's like these but no matter how much I try I never end up with the results I'm hoping for. There's a certian rawness and quality about most of these photo's especially the ones from joyride.

Do you guys alter the image at all in PS or does it somehow enhance the quality??

I know this probably sounds like a dumbass question but I've never tinkered with Photoshop. I'm thinking I might have to get PS for dummies

Photoshop can do anything with pictures really. Changing contrast, levels, cutting out ex girlfriends, you name it.

Joyride, those skyline pictures are great. Is that Chicago? Did you use PS to patch it together, or some other software?

Very little editing.

Usually run noise removal, maby play with color or white balance and thats about it

Biggest modification to my photos is usually croping


Id reccomend corell over photoshop any day. The average person would never notice a difference, its cheaper and easier to use. Yea Photoshop can do more but most peopel would never notice a difference

Stipud, the photo of the guy on the bench looks great for an un-edited image.

Glad to hear that the main things that people play with are white balance and colour correction (edit: sorry that would be color correction for those in the USA )

Stipud, yes, that is Chicago. I moved here about 2 weeks ago to find a job,. Michigan was doing so terrible that i had to leave.

I highly suggest Photoshop (especially CS3), however the price tag is a bit ridiculous. They have a stripped down version called Lightroom that has everything any casual photographer could want. There is a book company called "lark" that makes great training books. Easy to read and follow. I highly suggest it.

I pretty much edit everything that is going to be posted. Rarely have I taken a shot that couldnt benefit from some post processing, even if it is just levels or contrast. However, some shots require hours. Also, shooting in raw format requires that you load it up into something.

This is what an original IR shot looks like. You can compare this one shot with the panoramic of 'the bean' and you can get an idea the sense of scale on the image. This shot had levels, contrast, curves, channel swaps, saturation bumps, sharpen masks, tons of erasing and cloning, and a ton of dodge/burn.
