ti amp fans?

Post by ttocs »

do they suck or blow? I thought they sucked the air in, through the amp and out the top but I am not sure specifically for my LE Octane.

technically they don't suck

they create a low pressure zone behind the fan and air is forced in to fill the low pressure area.

there....now they dont suck! :P

I could have sworn I had held a cig up to a fan or two before and found that they blew out the top.....

I will test to be certain.....it does not make sense to me to install a fan to suck debris into the amp, instead of forcing the warm air out

Yes, they 'pull' air from the top and exit out the sides.

Is your amp rack open on the inside? ie. Will the exiting air have somewhere to go? If so then adding simple grill in your cover panel will allow the air in the front/top of the amp that's needed without changing too much.

I melted 3/8" plexi in my old amp rack just from not giving them enough clearance over the fan holes to allow proper airflow. The plexi hovered about 3/4" above the amps and it still wasn't enough. Ended up leaving an impression, the perfect shape of the fan cutouts for 3 amps, in the plexi and cooked the finish on the amps. Even with push-pull 'squirrel cage' fans in the amp rack.

my amp rack is open on the sides and the fans I mounted are blowing air in from the side vents. I have the sub side wired for 2 ohms mono so if I really jam on it for 30 mins I can put it into thermal protection even with the cover off of it completely. But I am talking about really really crankin it up for that 30 mins, it is fine for above average volume with the cover on.

I think they suck! I had a trunk full of Ti stuff back in the day and I was never really satisfied with them. IMO, the term "lack of balls" come to mind when I think of the Ti line.

Edit: Oh, you guys are talking about the actual fans that blow....well they do blow

well the fan has to intake from somewhere....i guess they thought the top was less liky to suck in debris then the sides.

I wouldn't go that far.....they are built on the Zero Point....and the power is there.....IMO....it's being musical they lack.....I was not impressed with sound reproduction....I think they had it right from the get-go....with the MS line....they should have just kept those....and upped the power.....and just changed the look of them if they wanted too......I hate opening a PG amp that isn't gold on the inside.....it's not the same 8)

Just my 2 cents 8)

too bad we can't get them to make an anniversary series like RF did. I bet they could sell as many as they could hope to make as long as they were up to snuff. You would have thought they would have learned a lesson by now?
