Caps

Where do I find the correct caps I called local electronics shop and told them the info I thought was correct like 2200mf 16 volt and the caps they gave me are so much smaller than the ones I took out of a m50

OK I got the caps and there smaller than the ones from the amp again
So I called the guy and he says they will be ok. Is that true?

The value is the same as is the temp rating of 105 c
but man there a lot smaller

Hmmm...

These are the ones we normally use:

Where did you get that part number nutxo?

How much smaller are we talking here? According to digikey they are the same size:

And if you compare them side by side, they have the same specs... besides the type HE/PW. The HE has an impressive life expectancy as well, while the PW is unrated. Audiophiles seem to rave about both of them.

If your caps aren't 18x31.5mm then you should be able to return them to Digikey and get the other ones... but if they're not THAT much smaller you could probably use them just fine. All you really need to do is match voltage, size, and temp rating, and then just get the highest capacitance (uF) you can find.

So they should be fine really...

Maybe your caps were replaced with bigger ones already? Some of us put in 35mm tall ones, which just barely fit in MS amps. Not sure about M's.

Could you take a pic of the caps side by side?

But the caps they sent me are part numbers 493-1325-ND
This is supposed to be for the 4700uf 35v and part number 493-1288-ND is supposed to be for the 2200uf 16v these are way smaller than any caps I have seen in any PG amp

I really appreciate all your guys help

The newer caps are just smaller in size (technology has improved) You can buy 5600uF caps that are the same size as the originals.

BTW at some point and time you mentioned to me in pm about selling my a M50 with a beat up case, did you change your mind or just forget about it?
