Box question

Post by nutxo »

Im building another box. This time for a treo tsx10.

it lists 2 types of boxes. Sealed .8 cu ft F3=44 Hz or vented 1.25 cf net, 12sq in vent, 18-1/8 in long, f3=30.4 Hz .

This is directly from the literature on treo's website. So if I build the box are they already taking into account the displacement of the sub? Which would yall recommend? I like sealed but Im working with 400 watts here. Are the tsx line good subs or should I look for something else?

Usually they specify if displacement isn't included.

I'm usually partial to sealed, but I really like ported 10's as well. Up to you man!

I must have been brain dead last night. Id assume since the specs for the slot ported box says "net" then that would be after calculating for the speaker displacement and the material for the port. Other wise it would be gross?

Do I add the port volume as well or just the material?

The RE calculator is freakin great. After I did it all on paper with a calculator I found the website and verified my numbers. The I decided to measure my trunk. Thank god I did. Camaro trunks are tiny. I redid the whole thing and it looks lie I have enough scrap ( if I make no mistakes ) to build the thing.

Ill post a pic and let yall knwo how it sounds tomorrow.

I figgered it all out so it would fit in the trunk yadda yadda and then saw something that said my slot needed to be at least 1.5" wide. The thing from treo says 12" sq. Is 1 inch to narrow for the port?

I tried winisd btw. It said the specs were invalid or some crap.

1 inch seams a little on the small side for a ten. I went with a 2 inch slot for my Audiopulse Revo 1.2 cubes at 35 hz.

Here's a program I use to build my slotport's with.

Im about to say screw it and build a sealed box. I miss the old days when there were more full service places and you could just walk in and they would puch the numbers into thier little dos program and the dot matrix printer would kick out the specs,.

My bad I went right past that somehow.

If you don't mind spending 50 bucks for a set of plans give Pete a call.
He designed the enclosure for my Ti elites and it sounded amazing.

I like sealed I was just hoping for alittle more output since I only have 400 watts and one sub to work with.
