I am looking into what you guys really think of the big ass exile amps...a 2400 xi would be what I would get along with one of the 18s.
I am not at all up on this company or their products. They are local, and that is important to me as far as customer service and such is concerned,,,but I don't know...real power...reliability...who builds the boards and what other amps are they in...I am assuming that they are ordered boards and completed/assembled here of coarse...could be wrong...but I doubt it.
I know some have tested their subs and from what I've seen the big 15 and 18 are the only drivers I would be interested in playing with...preferably the 18s.
I would have to sell some stuff to pull it off and would most likely just go with all exile amps and the sub...run my xenons with their gear. So lets see what people say....................

Contact Morgan (MW3)...............he's EXILE............
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
yeah I know, what I am looking for is a real world opinion of the equipment from the folks who run it...not the manufactures specs and talk. There isn't a great deal about the equipment out there to form an educated opinion and if I am going to sell some stuff to build a system with their stuff...as they are local and they do make an 18...but then again so does ma audio and I wouldn't buy it...
comparisons and feedback from an audiophile on what they are all about. Not trying to base a 1200 to 1500 dollar purchase on a few show car pic's and the thiel parameters....

But everything I've heard sounds pretty good.........almost PG-esk...... Haven't heard the power of that monster but there is a guy around here that has that amp running an 18 (not exile) in a crown vic that pounds ass...........

I ran an X800.4 with the Xtec65 comps for a long time in my last VW. That combo was AWESOME!!! I liked the speakers better than the ID CXS62 I replaced. And the amp surely put out more power than rated. I think Doc benched one and it might even be around on the forum somewhere. Very solidly built amps that deliver beautiful sounds.
Morgan has been more than helpful in getting me set up in the past and I am about to pull the trigger on some new stuff. I would not hesitate to run anything they sell. I can also vouch for their service. My first amp had a slight problem that likely occurred during shipping, and one email was all it took to get an advanced exchange no questions asked.
Those Big18s looks beastly and I would be interested in seeing how they perform.

setting up and exchanging systems is fun for me...and I like to see what equipment is capable of...both electronically and accoustically. I have high standards and don't hesitate to dump it if I am not happy with the equipment.
Now some stuff is just different and this outlaw is just goddamn lovely...I am almost loath to install it. It really belongs in that body bag safe and sound for the next ten years or until the new caps start leaking.
I am an audiophile and my tastes in music are diverse...but my home is sq based and doesn't change much. the car has always been a toy and being a bass head from way way back I am not too sure that I want to run my subs on an m100 and on an 8 ohm bridge at that. Now I am not a fan of pg mono blocks...owned em all and ran everyone at the very least on my bench and I just am not a fan. Ok, now keep in mind my car has a 280 alt and 2 big ass batteries
I've run mtx rfls, solo x's, mojo's and I've turned more l7's into door stops then stereo king allows so they made me pay the difference and get the solo's. I've had 4 cv exl1200.1s strapped in the car and I've had two sx1200.1s strapped, four audiobahn 1800 dt's and then the a4kdn...the last four I built all ran high 150s and I hit a platue with the car...never could break that 160 hurdle...the one that leads to the next at 170 and so on and so on...
now the car is just thrashed from these systems inside...and the solo's ripped the tire well brace plate off and broke the truck latch permanently...now it pops open with any real bass in there and and hoovers...so do I really want to refinish the entire car for a os pg show build...man, tough call when I could toss and few racks in with a monster box and tie up the wires again!!! I havn't run 18s in a few years...the last were the old cv-r 18s...and they were just bad ass...but these...these look alot like the fi18s...I had an fi sub and it had all the acoustical value of a rock...a big power hungry loud one...and it couldn't touch the solo's...not thermally and not even close on the output and on less and equivalent power.
I talked to the folks over at pro sound and they arnt going to sponsor the db drags this year...again. Fucking weak ass economy...can't blame the shop...no funds and it wouldn't make any for em to show a couple cars and systems when no one has any to spend. wakeup's 900.7 is in it right now for road noise...no rush.....

i have run a shift 500.1 and a x 300.2
both powered subs and both defined seemed to put out the power. also, the shift amps (and xi) are a installers dream. small and low profile and really worked the shift sub that was on it.
i didn't test it, but it definitely mad more power then the rsd300.1 (which you would expect, but the rsd is almost twice as big in physical size.
also, the new smaller shift 250.1 (and pretty sure the 500.1) are a/b amps with crossover defeats. so you could run 1 for ever speaker in the car!
i dont think the shift have the head room as the xi, or even many pg amps. but there you go...
also eric did a super in depth review of the x sereis, i just can;t find the link right now

well, I shan't be running any of their amps....I am not impressed thus far...I do want to hear that 18...but I don't think I'll be investing any funds into it when I'd almost bet the mojo 15s are an equivalent driver if not better and the last one of those I picked up minty fresh only cost me 90 bucks.
Thanks fella's...your feedback has been helpful....

Nice post.vingasoline wrote:I tried to run a Juggernaut 12 off the 1200.1, and to get any decent output, I had to max the gain and bass boost. yes it sounded like shit for the whole 30 seconds I had it hooked up..

X1200.1 was our second best selling amp for 3 years straight, behind X600.4.
I have seen and installed countless systems with X1200.1's that will tear your head off.
If you haven't heard one (amp or speaker) in person, then how can you form a real opinion?bogart wrote:well, I shan't be running any of their amps....I am not impressed thus far...I do want to hear that 18...but I don't think I'll be investing any funds into it when I'd almost bet the mojo 15s are an equivalent driver if not better and the last one of those I picked up minty fresh only cost me 90 bucks.

that sorta seems like a unfair trial.vingasoline wrote:I tried to run a Juggernaut 12 off the 1200.1, and to get any decent output, I had to max the gain and bass boost. yes it sounded like shit for the whole 30 seconds I had it hooked up..
that sub is a 1400 rms sub with duel 1.4 coils...
so you were either running it at 2.1 ohms, in which the amp is only rated for 800 watts...so the sub was seeing around not much more then 1/2 the power it wanted.
or you were running it at .7 ohms which is below its recommended operation
furthermore, you maxed out its gains and bass boost. which will make any amp sound terrible
that amp will pull about 60amps at 2ohms. in normal operation. that amp has a 18db boost pot...and every 3 db it will try and pull twice the power...
so you were running it in a manor that it was trying to pull over 400 amps...which i'm betting your electrical system isn't up to delivering.
and thats assuming your were going with the 2ohm operation. that would have been further magnified if you were running it at .7ohms
everyone is welcome to an opinion. but to me it doesn't seem like you really gave the exile a fair chance

screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
IF he set it up and did what he said he did with it either the sub or the amp were not right...or the connection was not right...I've run solo'xs on 1k and they made noise.
My decision is based on several things...for me, I own every M based amp made. I've been building this stuff up for years and it is some of the best sq gear out there...so I would have to sell a part of it...which I am not adverse to if it is the right gear at the right price....which generally means quality o/s stuff as I am not a rich man and it fits my budget.
I've got friends who frequent Kingpin, who has the gear. It looks great...and the 18 is interesting...but what sets this apart from it's competitors on the market...and the amps...even though they may be big and solid....if I am going to sell collectors amps to run something other then pg...and for subs and a couple amps were talking 2k...so my if I did do it I would buy old tru or even a nice clean sinfoni two channel...upgrade from where I am at now....
I've seen and heard nothing to indicate that it is that caliber of gear or worth me sacrificing amp's that I value and regard highly....the 18s are something I would play with but I am not looking for a toy. I need something that I can effectively run on what I've got or bust as till I can get an amp repaired...
I've meant nothing negative about the company...I've formed no real opinion on the equipment itself. It just isn't what I am looking for...and I don't want to start selling stuff off on a whim to get stuff I've not a real clue about...but I am more into eclectic equipment. I would like to hear some if it, but I'm not ready to just dive in for all it is worth...

Let me clarify, the sub is a dual 2 ohm. I ran it at 1 ohm, and I could not get any decent sound out of it, no matter where the dials were set. There is no way that amp was putting out even close to 1200W. There was nothing wrong with the amp, I even tried a new one, with the same result..
So here is my opinion, if you are looking for something to run 500W subwoofers, buy this amp, it will bang the shit out of them. But if you have some high end audio, get something else.. You get what you pay for $300 for a 1200W monoblock << how much is a 1200w sony xplod. What's the difference between the 2.

I have used an Exile X800.4 in my truck for the past few years with zero problems. Even when driven hard the amp is never more than warm (there is plenty of aluminum to dissipate heat in an Exile amp). The amp easily produces rated power, and has a nice feature set which worked great running my components and subwoofer. My only gripe is lack of a fan, but since they don't really get hot, this is not an issue for pretty much everyone.
