just a quick question for you guys, i got 2 12'' rsdc's, what would be better for these subs,a sealed box or ported? hooked up to a 1600w ryval series amp, and which way would be best to direct each type of box, towards cabin or rear? any info helpful, thanks!

I would say go sealed as although ported fans claim you can do it and have it sound good, to my ears a good ported is a very rare beast. Sealed is a lot easier to get right and nearly always sounds good. you will get more output from ported, but with the power you have, you should be getting ample output from sealed anyway so going ported isnt needed IMO
Its all a matter of what you like, and I prefer sealed as my background is sound quality, but many ppl love ported, so go with what sounds good to you. Have you heard them in either set up ?

If you are looking at a prefab ported box, forget it.
They are just a basic box with a generic volume & port size. The odds of putting the RSDc subs in & having it sound like you want is rare.
The only way to run a ported box is to design it specifically around the woofer(s) you are using & the bass response you are after.
Properly designed, you can get great sound quality from a ported box.
But in your particular situation I would go with sealed. You have plenty of power & much better odds of getting the sound you want than with a generic ported box.

ya, i have em in a sealed box right now but im not very happy with the box quality so i was gona buy a better one, didnt wana pay a shop here a bunch of money to make me one and i dont have the time to make one myself, if its sealed is it preferable to face em forward or can i face em backwards? i listen to alot of rap and heavy metal so i like hard hitting bass, also the car is a 05 grand prix compG

Sounds like you have a lot of questions regarding enclosures.
May I suggest this site? http://www.bcae1.com/
They have TONS of great info in a well organized fashion. They discuss sealed and ported and everything most people will require to know about either. They go over port size, length, tuning, etc.
As stated previously, do not buy a generic ported enclosure. You always want to ensure a ported enclosure is built to spec for your specific driver. While the same is true of sealed, there is more "wiggle room" for sealed boxes.
PG specs for the woofer can be found in the manual here:

Beware, that PDF is huge (23MB).
