was playing my system and noticed the sound would lower and raise on the left side. thought it was a problem with my head unit (eclipse) or amp (baby belle). no rhyme or reason when it would occur, just would come in and out. once i was out riding around and it sounded like a transistor radio. next morning i yanked the amp and put in an old school zapco. same thing started again. great, my eclipse is flaking out. couple days later i yanked that out and put in a kenwood til i got the eclipse out of the shop. well, same thing again. only thing it can be now is the crossover or the mid is flaking on my rsd components. does not happen when i hit a bump or anything like that, just plays low out of the mid, the tweeter on the left side is fine. if i crank the volume it will come back up. i hate taking the door panels off and i dont have any components to replace them with. arrrgh!

Is your cross-over mounted outside the door ? If it is you could try swapping it with one from RHS and see if the problems moves to RHS. It sounds like could be a poor connection in xover.
see how you go

this is going to sound silly, but it can work since you seem to have an intermitten problem. These are often cause by vibrations and can only be reproduced under similar way. I like to call them technical taps but it is little more then phisically lightly banging on the equipment to see if anything happens when you do it. STart with your finger tips, then your knuckles and increase the force until something happens or your knuckes are sore(ok, not that hard). Take the wiring and push, pull and jiggle it to see again if anything happens. Start simple before you start swapping out equipment, it doesn't get much easier then this. sometime just by lightly tapping on the equipment or certain part of the equipment will show you what is wrong.
