Old Genesis (DLS) Class A amp

Post by phonixx »

Bought this old UK Genesis (made by DLS) Class A amp today. Its a SA50 rated 2*25W typical 2*45W. I Had a DLS Genesis SA30 15 years ago and its very very hot but it pushed 2* 12" Celestion and it did ok. (We tested for fun)

Genesis is not made by DLS, Genesis actually made DLS amps for awhile but not anymore. Genesis amps are hand assembled. That would make for a great tweeter amp if it is a true class a and not just heavily biased

Ya I am a DLS whore myself, they are from Sweden, great stuff

here is some info from a Genesis employee about the subject

"We supplied DLS with amplifiers for international distribution in specified markets from the end of 1992 until Dec 2000.

The Series 1 and 2 amplifiers supplied to them were dual branded, with the DLS logo added to our screenprint on S1, and the badge on S2.

When we released Series 3, we dropped the dual branding as it caused considerable confusion in a number of markets.

At the end of 2000, DLS had their own range of amplifiers designed and made for them in the Far East, which visually were too similar to our products, so we parted company."

So technically it could have come from DLS but it is a Genesis amp

Cool info, i bought a SA30 in the early-mid 90`s here in Norway. That was also a "DLS Genesis" quite expensive but i cannot remember how much i payd back then.
For this SA50 i payed approx $120 (700,- norwegian kroner)

What a beauty!

Been thinking myself if I should go to something class A or even valve based and get the Aurum Cantus ribbons.
The combo sounds great at home and can't help that it would song awesome in a car if set up right...
