Post by Rold Gold »

How can I test an isolator to make sure it good?

It's a white PG 14VDC "diode bussbar array" isolator. And can anybody tell me what amprage this is?

Use a dmm to test the resting voltage on both batteries. Chances are that you'll have atleast a little difference in the voltage. If they're too close to call draw one down a bit. After you hook them up to the isolated charging system take some more readings. They should hold their respective voltage levels. If they aren't isolated properly the voltage levels will begin to equalize. After you've confirmed the two batteries are isolated fire up the alternator and take another round of measurements to confirm both are charging and you're good to go.
