Double hell yes. Actually I have never heard one of these and now I really want to.

Late 90's crew represent.

Add the V1 IDMax and Ti Elite 12 to the list for me

Oh and seeing a 15W6 is the reason I got into car audio. I love the big logo dustcap look of the oldschool JLs.

I am still going have a box for my 3 12" Rockford Audiophile RFA124 subs one day. :) Maybe for HT? I have not heard them, but I bet they will sound awesome! :)

I always wanted a pair of USD Pro 15. :)

Always had a thing for Pg Xmax's, Earthquake Magma's....still have 2 PG Xmax 10's.

Infinity Kappa Perfects (white cone) buddy of mine had a 10" ported...damn impressive sub in sq and spl in the setup he had

Crystal CMP 15 I had back in the day. Loved that sub...excellent SQ and great output.

Atomic Thunder Shocker 15's i had...handled crazy amounts of power...sq was not so good but managed 150db with two of them in a 10cuft ported enclosure and 1400W rms total. They definetly did not look like anything special at all.

I had an Atomic Thunder "Mouse" if anyone remembers that sub. That thing was a beast and handled a shitload of power... (5000w + RMS burps)

I still to this day want a CV Stroker 15 or 18... that with some 8W7s in a bandpass mid bass setup would sound beautiful.

I liked the look of the JL 10W6 V1's and the Orion XTR's always had a soft spot for me. The NT's are really nice too.

Then there are the old school CV's and the flat piston PPI.

If I get bored of my Celestion's I will make sure they go back up in my loft. It's a pain when you look back and regret letting things slip away.

I think my favourite OldSchool sub is the Soundstream SPL160 15" sub. I think this was one of the first big woofers that slammed hard and deep from a small enclosure and still had high sensitivity and power handling. 15" sub in a 1,5 cu.in box, with 96db sensitivity and 800W rms power handling was kinda special in the late 90s. And still today it is one of the best 15" SQ woofers, even though it was meant to be a allout SPL beast from the start. Top notch effort from Soundstream when they were at their best :)

no offence pls but that sub lacked sq qualities, i built 3 different enclousres for that sub to make it sound musical and it didnt do that great, but i agree with the amount of volume and tight hard hitting bass they did deliever. they were ahead of the curve on that sub.

maybe my expectaions of playing low are different. :D

but the rf audiophiles first gens were really nice...not alot of output but they were very smooth...

i should find me a audiophile 12. yeah i remember when those bandpass boxes were the craze and everyone was doing them and even for a woofer like the pro series.

i miss my spp 154s damn things were nice.

8 cubic ft for two tuned to 40hz...

non taken :) They really need a big box for SQ, large sealed or IB if the car is suitable. But as all subs they might sound wonderful in one car/setup, and nothing special at all in the next. Its my favourite old school sub of the ones I've tried, next to my Cyclone that I sadly had to sell when times were rough a while back. Happily I sold my SPL160 to a friend about 12 years ago, and when I asked him last year if he still had it, it turned out that he never even got around to using it, so I bought it for the same price I once sold it for :)

I remember when that SPL160 came out. Someone told me it did everything well - SPL, SQ, compact box etc. I wondered what the catch might be. It sounded too good to be true. Shame I never heard it myself! Can anyone else shed some light on it's abilities for SQ?

I wondered if that sub had parallels with the JL W7 range. In that loads of people say they sound great on SQ but also do SPL (obviously). Yet every W7 I've heard sounded like a blurred mess. Even from a dealers demo car.

My old rf pro series was a beast, thinking about the box i had it in  thing was fing huge.
I dont remember the exact details, but the box was around 9 cubic ft. 6 ft for the rear chamber with 3 4in ports around 10? in long. The front was 3ft with 2 6in ports around 3? in long.
I remember i had it tuned LOW.
Made a few people puke from the bass at partys when i set it up corner loaded in my house  ...and a few girls really liked sitting on it.

lived most of its life in a 85 rabbit gti, with no back seat left. It wasnt pritty  but it sounded great running off of my ms2125 (i wanted a bigger amp but that was all i could afford back then) used to roll down the windows and that thing would come alive :P

Had it in my buddys suburban for a while to, but one 18 wasnt enuff for our spl cravings in that big thing...

I had a 8 ohm pro 12in i picked up at a pawn shop in everett wa. that dissapeared with the 18 :idiot: had it in a custom 6th order box for a 85 cellica gts ...never even got to test it in the car because i was waiting on my 1 in plexi cover for the box when it grew legs

...ah well, gave me an excuse to buy the titanium 12s i ran for a few years :)

I also always liked the original kicker solobaric 12s things sounded great in little sealed boxes with a ton of power, i dont remember hearing anything that could touch them when they came out (in a tiny box)

My first old school sub was the square magnet 10" MTX RFL. Try finding a pic of one of those!!!. Ive had a CV 18" stroker, MTX RFL 15, Fusion Comp15 quad coil, 9 Cyclones, 2 Ground Zero Engineering Nuclear subs and a few other odd ball units.

But the square magnet 10" RFL was probably the rarest and would be worth more than it was new now days...

Of the old school subs I have run,,,

the original gs audio designs redline 18's....top notch monsters

the original soundstream granite series 15's...ran two in my first car....72 datsun 610 off a reference 500.....

and then there is the mack daddy strokers....but they came out quite awhile after I first got the audio bug...but they revolutionized design theory for subs in the auto industry....for those that don't know....they were a fairchild production from his stint with Vega....pretty much anything the man touched was golden...and still is if you are up on tru tech's contribution to the more eclectic realm of mobile audio....

I can't swear to this, but I believe he had his hands all over the original rf power 1000 too.....

but fav os sub would have to be the gs's.......gs and autotek were sister companies till they sold out and gs was scrapped.....

The first real spl wagon I had the pleasure of hearing in my high school days was at the stink wrinkle of a shop in salem, audiosource....but they ran 16 gs 12s on some big ass old school autotek amps....it was insane...

Hey nico.....I know where there is one of the audiobahn 32 in drivers here locally....hanging from a shop ceiling at a local shop....I've thought about offering them funds for it a few years back...but common sense won out as I think it needs like 5k and 15 ft cubed to run it....I know in the day they put a couple in the audiobahn truck and it looked like fun....it would only cost about a grand to ship it to ya :D :D :D
