lol.. sorry forgot to put in the disclaimer....

I don't work for or sale their product. Nor do I own any shares in their company. :D

I came across this product a few years ago when I was looking for a more viable solution to sound deadening for land cruisers. At highway speeds you could not even hold a conversation and forget about having a radio. I used some Dynamat Xtreme on both sides of the firewall, about 25% of each door and the footwells. It worked pretty good and made a huge difference. But we always look for something better. I mean even with the dynamat it was still noisy. I came across this stuff and asked for a sample which the company sent. Since it was new no one in the land cruiser community wanted to try it out. And I didnt want to buy a roll on my own dime. I think this stuff would work wonders. So I looked it up again and figured I would ask around as I would like to try this product and wanted to see if others might as well.

This is on ebay. If we have someone in Tampa FL we can save some cash by local pick up and then those chipping in just pay the shipping cost to their own address. That roll is like 135 sqft for 250USD

Well Im not ADD... because i am ADHD!

Ok this is a blocking material and would need to be combined with a closed cell foam. Or you could lay it over the floor boards under neath your carpeting. I was thinking about doing that and then using it against the cabins firewall (bulkhead). I think the doors with be ok with the 1/8" size between the door cards and the door metal. Anyway its all open for discussion. I really want to see how this product can be used for our applications.

that was my concern as well. Something made for internal home use may not hold up as well for automotive.

I still recomend second skin when it comes to sound damping. Great stuff...........

No adhesive.

The product works in all environments.

Its a sound blocker. Doesnt serve the same purpose as the products we normally use. I just installed some second skin in my mercedes. I was thinking this might be a nice product to use under the carpeting. Maybe even as a curtain on the interior side of the engine bulkhead and then on the read buldhead for the back seat. It could be used in other areas as well like lining the truck and maybe under the hood.

I am going to ask the guy if he has used this in his car.

I received an answer this morning to my questions.
Hello, Oh yes- we have been doing high end car systems for 30 years and have used Acoustiblok regularly under the carpet and juking- extending it as far up the firewall as possible. The best way is to remove the seats, console, and carpeting then carefully cut and mold it to the floor, taping all the seams. (I have it in my truck).
I ask more Q's so will see what he says.

Iwill find out on the adhesive... but from what he said they just put it under the carpet and tape over the seams.

Im surprised that more people have
not tried this in car audio applications
if it has been somewhat intended for that
use, or any use for that matter, for thirty years.

This looks like mass loaded vinyl to me... you can read about it here:

Anyone interested in sound deadening should thoroughly go through this site:

for automotive use it would really have to have its own glue to hold it down. With out it you could also just go get some lanolium lamanate(SP?) and it would do almost the same thing. With out the correct glue to hold it in place I don't think I would use it......
