sherwood has been around for years I never liked them personally, but how do you compare an M50 to a Sherwood of the same era 8) some dood i worked with in the mid 90's had one massive Sherwood running his M&M Godfather 15's and it slammed pretty good (I still couldnt get him to hook up with PG power though  ) it was relly muddy power to say the least.I would say they are compreable to any run of the mill amp.

IMO - give him back the amp and get your $50.00.

never been a fan of Sherwood anything. From the looks of it, its better than Sony Xplod...

That's "beater" car gear.... You know, gear ya would have any problem walking away from if need be. I say install it in yer beater and go from there. Or post it on CL.
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Sherwood

Post by robg3176 »

LOL

I remember those. I had a sherwood amp back in the early 90's along to go with a Coustic 2x50watt amp.

Long story short, my first 2 amps. I used to go to the swap meets in high school, called the "Flea Market", fitting isn't it. Bought these 'Rockwood' 1000watt amps and kept on returning because they kept blowing.

Until my buddy, who knew much more and had kickers and rockfords in the trunk came with me to return those light as feather rockwoods, for a 2x100 sherwood and a 2x50 coustic that were heavier than the '1000watt rockwood' and cost more.

Turns out those amps worked better than the flea market brand. And they were my first amps. I sold the gear shortly after for earthquakes.

But then 2 years later and a job, I bought a Sapphire 1.4x for my components, and a PPI PC275 to rock 2 JLW4's and they pounded good.

In short, while they were reliable starter amps, and Sherwood is ok for a new enthusiast, but i'd rate it slightly below a 90's kenwood amp.
