ryval v8001 help

Post by ridersgcchamps07 »

i bought this amp a couple days ago. i have 2 12 inch boston g3s dual voice coil subs. i hooked all the wiring up pluged the fuse in and turned power on. played for about 30 seconds then amp red lighted.all amp settings were on low. i didnt even have a chance to turn bass boost up yet.i left it overnight and the next day i turned on and the amp was red then green then it would blow the fuse under hood. i thought the fuse might have been faulty so i changed it, when i turned it on again it was red then switched to green and blew the fuse.i unhooked amp and put my old kenwood in and everything works fine so it has to be the amp.i paid alot of money to hear my subs for 30 seconds lol anybody have any sugestions

Those amps are only 2 ohm stable mono did you wire your subs for lower imedance?

I am guessing your subs are dual 4's?

IF you bought it new then take it back, I ran a few of those amps to play with and they seem pretty solid and did well.

But taking them lower then their rated impedance will kill them fast as they are not designed for it.

Do you have the 7.5 amp fuses set correctly?
What do you have them set for 2 or 8 ohm?

If you have the two subs paralled you have either a 1ohm or 4 ohm load at the amp.

Did a little more checking.

The web site says to run a 2 ohm load you have to switch to SVC g3 subs paralled.

Try running one sub set to 2 ohms.

i had both fuses in both subs.so thats set for 2 ohms. so if i have 2 that would bring them down to 1 ohm? i dont want to just run 1.what would be a better amp that i could use so i can run both subs?

well you could just change the way they are wire back to the amp to a series, and that would show the amp a 4ohm load, which is safe, but the amp wont make max power either.

you could run a pair of smaller amps, one for each sub

what you really need is a amp that makes big power at 4ohms, or is 1ohm stable

the NEW pg mono blocks are 1 ohm stable, as are the xenon and newer exile mono amps.

you could also run a xenon 600.1 or 1200.1 at 4ohms.

vw337 has a few of the v4001's (which are kinda cool becasue there are only 6 of those) but i dont know of anyone selling a 8001

one thing that you can do is run rca's out of the first amp's aux out, and then you can control both amps with 1 lpl and not have to run all new rca's
