800.1 ti and 3-12" PG XS subs
800.1 ti and 3-12" PG XS subs
Hello All, i need some help wiring up my 3 PG XS single voice coil subs to my 800.1ti amp. i had the 600.2 in the car powering them bridged and in parellel. would this be the best way to wire up the 800.1 ti as well? with the 800.1 ti bridged and running the subs in parellel i hit 137.5. A diagram of different wiring options would help me alot as well. Also should i upgrade the subs? what r ur recommendations with the 800.1ti amp if i want to upgrade the subs? the box is sealed and fits 3-12's.
thanks,
vince

vince

well, ported boxes are generally going to be more efficient than sealed enclosures. I would port the box. Also, not sure what impedance your voice coils are...as far as upgrading the subs - there are many, many routes to go w an 800.1 ti

Those are not the type of subs that are gonna give you strong SPL numbers. Also 1.33ohms is taking a chance with an amp that is only stable to 2ohms bridged. going ported will give you more output but i would look at getting better subs. IMO
I have xmax 15's F/s if you want bigger sound. your amp would suit those perfectly... shameless plug i know.

screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
here's what your gonna get with the 3 you have which you already stated
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofe ... p?Q=3&I=41 you need another XS sub(4 total) to run it at 4ohm. I'm guessing that poor 600.2 was getting fairly hot at times and your electrical system was probably taking a beating too. here's the 4 ohm option
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofe ... p?Q=4&I=41. i would grab a set of dual2 ohm subs and then run your 800.1 @ 2ohms
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofe ... p?Q=2&I=22 there ya go...
Again you can buy my single 4ohm 15's for an excellent price and be loud that way too.

Flip the sub over and on the magnet structure there'll be a sticker, the model number will read XS124 for a 4 ohm or 128 for an 8 ohm.
I really don't think they made an 8 ohm XS sub unless you went w/DVC's that were 4 ohms wired in series for the 8 ohms.

so if i went with 3 12" XMAX subs that would increase my spl? would i need more space inside the box? or should i redo the box and go with 2 Xmax subs? the system is in my 85 z28 camaro, which means i dont have alot of room in the trunk, would need to redo a fibreglass box or buy i q-logic box made for my car. how much space is needed for the Xmax subs and can they still be found?

i would pass on the ti elites, only becasue they need a TON of power, the ti800.1 is less then i would reccomend for 1, let alone 2.
3 xmax 12's wouldnt change your spl much. they have about the same cone area and sensitivity as the xs's
what you need to do is find a set up that will help your ti800.1 make the most power. (which is at 2ohms)
getting to 2ohms with 3 subs requires some very specific subs (none of which pg makes)
i would go with 1 or 2 subs (which will let you make 2ohms) and give them the box they need
imo, going with a ported box for 2 of your XS12s would be the way to go.
safe for your amp, and should be louder then 3 in a sealed setup

I would not recomend wireing different impedence subs into the same box. First it will have to be serperated per woofer but then the dvc 2ohm will get more power. The difference in output from the different woofers would result in cancellations wouldn't they?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

yessir^
i dont think he meant mix em though. i think he was trying to find 3 dvc's to make 2.66 ohms.
vincez28, yup, you got it!
the 2 svc's will be sharring 800. (rather then 3 dvc's sharing 600 if you went that route)

so connect them individually to the amp? or connect them together and send 1 set of +/- to the amp. any other choices for subs recommended to run with the 800.1?in case i want to upgrade? cause these subs are kind of old school and im sure technology into new subs are better.
thanks Bfowler for your input. do u know what space those xs need?
