doing some design work on the sub box and amp rack...
I am thinking I am going to fire the subs into the cab and mount the amp in the trunk, otherwise the roadster wont get near enough air.
So... normally I would put the subs in their own .80 cu ft (before driver, .71 after) chamber, but I wanted to get some input from those that know...
Should I separate them into their own .80 chambers or put them in a shared 1.6cu/ft chamber?
1 RSDc per chamber or 2?

I like seperate chambers for the fact that if one blows, the other won't.
But I like the way 2 woofers sound in 1 chamber also.......

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
yea wut he said. Now presonally I have never blown a woofer so the first argument just doesn't work for me so out of sq and being lazy I will often just make one enclosure.
and with one enclosure blowing one sub does no mean you will blow the other. You should be able to notice the sound level drop long before it takes the other out.

what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I have done both in the past and never had a problem with blowing a sub...
but if I am being perfectly honest, I dont know that I have ever heard a benefit of the single vs dual sub per enclosure, which is why I am seeking input.
the box I am going to build will need a center brace, so I can either use that piece as a brace or as a chamber wall.
I measured the passthrough between the trunk and cabin and its 32.5" wide at its narrowest and 11.5 tall all the way across... the Roadster is 31.75" wide and 11.5" tall, so it would probably fit if I was careful, but squeezed between the seat and the rack wouldnt give it air and I would have to put a fan on it... and I am entirely too lazy to do that.
though I did decide that this enclosure will be MDF (or birch to save weight) with some glass accents. so its going to take a while to build, which is good, because that will give me some time to save for the head unit/metra install kit so that I dont have to work on the system twice.
at some point I should probably move this into the installs phorum.

nope, no cuts yet... just drawings on graph paper and scribles of measurements. Not sure why I bother making drawings and whatnot, I never use them when is comes time to actually make the enclosures. The Golden One wrote:hope you didnt make any cuts yet because when two subs share the same airspace you are supposed to reduce the overall air space of the encloser. its been a long time since ive made a box like this but i believe you should reduce the volume buy 25% but just to be sure i would look it up first.
I had not heard about reducing enclosure volume when subs share space, but I will definitely look into it.
thanks!
