good idea. I just ordered the pot needed for the lpl, this is the one I used that has an indentation in the middle of the sweep as well as has the mounting bushing.

this is an eric quote from his howto replace the caps...

I have received many questions about Phoenix Gold capacitors leaking, and I have replaced them on many amplifiers for myself and for others. The procedure to replace them is not all that hard, but requires basic soldering skills, and some patience. I use Nichicon UHE1C562MHD6 capacitors for nearly all my replacements

I tried this once before.......I have part numbers for a number of amps on hand if wanted/needed.

Last time I tried this it went to hell over 85*C and 105*C caps.....even though I had both options there.

What is the difference between the caps listed in Stipid's How to http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 93-1804-ND and the one from Eric's post http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... nt_id=5042 ?

I have three Grey MS2125 amps I want to try to re-cap for use.
Eric can you please fill me in on which would be the best overall caps to use?

Ok maybe I'm about to answer my own question but.

As far as I can see.
10000 vs. 8000 Hrs. at 105c

What about the Ripple current. 4.17A vs. 3.635A
Imp. 16mOhm vs. 15 mOhm

digi key isn't the only distributor.

Try arrow electronics or avnet -2 more very legit companies.

I feel your pain man. I need 48 of them. I have four amps to re-cap.
Maybe we should try to gather together and get a group buy going.
I don't know how much cheaper it would be.

I am gonna order 100 also gonna get some resistors and rail caps too. Want me to order what you need to Dan If I order over $200 its free shipping. Then I can send them out to you and it will be a little cheaper for you than just ordering 48.

Ok, I just went round and round with this. Digikey does not stock the ones that fit the power supply transistors exactly. I called Bergquist the company that makes them. They list them on their website but do not sell them direct. They told me to check Digikey, which I already had, and then Orion. I called Orion and they quoted me $150. for 100 pieces. This is because they don't stock that size but cut it from large stock. No thanks.

These are the ones I came up with from Digikey. They are too big but you can't go too small. If you go too small you risk shorts and don't get the same contact of surface area for heat transfer.

This one is slightly smaller than the second one listed. It will fit the power supply transistors and the rectifiers. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =sp900s-90

This second one fits the larger sized Toshibas on the output side of the amp almost perfect. The width is right on but they overhang on the top a bit. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =sp900-104

Digikey uses the same picture for both. The -90 has square corners and the -104 has rounded corners.

You could use the -104 for both sides of the amp but you would have more overhang on the power supply side. If you don't mind looking at the extra pink, go for it. I know, I know, the width between the two is only a .25mm difference. It is the height and hole placement that make the big difference between the two.

Here are some pics. Forgive my Windows Paint skills, they are very limited.

Gridy PM sent.
Oldschool thanks man. I was lost on which ones to use.
I am just now starting to remove all the caps.
I wasn't sure how long it would be before I could get to them but wanted to stop any damage that might have started already.

Dan PM me the part #'s of everything you want to order. I want to put an order in pretty soon. I am just waiting for some MS 2125's and an M100 to show up so I know what all I need to repair those too. I should have them this week. If anybody else wants anything I am willing to add to the order.

I have a MS2250 that I would like to get repaired not sure when I will get it done if you don't min can you please let me know how much caps and transistors for the power supply side would cost.
I got the amp from a friend that hooked up power to the ground because all his cable was red and some of the transistors are cracked other than that there is no visible damage.
