Phoenix Gold RSDC124 help!
Hey guys, after tons of debating and hours of research, I bought my first pair of PG subs (RSDC124's) due to the outstanding reputation and reviews the RSD and RSDc's have gotten.
Now my only trouble is trying to find an amp to power them with. I'm a little rusty on ohms and impedance, so i'm trying to decide what kind of amp I should get...ex-monoblock, class d, etc. They will be in a sealed box in the back of my dodge quad cab, and i'm guessing I need to run them at 1 ohm? If you could please help me with some suggestions on what amps to look at and what ohmage (is that a word? if it's not im making it one), it would be GREATLY appreciated. My budget range for an amp is up to $200.
Thanks in advance for the help...

How about something from the new line up at PG. I don't think you'll find much that will give you 1200 watts RMS at 1 ohm though for around $200
I think the entry level R1000.1 is like $350 and 1000 watts RMS 1 ohm stable

Check my buyer/seller ratings http://phoenixphorum.com/gridracer-vt4548.html
I have more PG stuff than one guy ever needs.

what's the pro's and cons of monoblock vs D and what should I get?
I plan on getting a beefier amp down the road, but right now i'm on a slight budget

Ok, first question...What is the big 3?
Class D means I can run two subs with less problems right? I heard someone say in another post that most monoblocks are best for a single sub.
Last question, since the amps I'm looking at are 2000 watts, should I get a 2000 watt amp kit, or since i'm only going to be pushing them at 1200w@1ohm should I just get the 1200w amp kit?
Yes right now i'm deciding between the SPL you listed and the planet audio or the crunch.
Thanks for the quick replies guys, I appreciate it.

your big 3 power wires, the battery ground to chassis ground, chassis ground to motor ground, and the pos that goes from the alt to the battery for charging. You can run what ever wires you want to for the amp but if those wires are too small they are your electrical choke point
class D is the rating given the sub based on how it is built.

EDIT: Ok I found a link about the big 3
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/for ... 73496~PN~1
It says to run your new cables along the existing ones and don't bother removing them...Since I'm not removing the old wires, does that mean I need to hook them back up with the new wires? or just leave the old ones dangling in my engine compartment not hooked up lol.
I still would like a link of a place to buy some new cable for the big 3 re-wire. Thanks again for the replies and being so patient!!!!!
Also, my truck is a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 HEMI, let me know if those have enough wiring as it is or if I should go ahead and upgrade the big 3.

grab 0 ga and be done with it.
rehook your factory wires with the new one's where possible.

I appreciate all the help guys, I'm still deciding between the planet audio amp or the SPL that was listed...Pretty sure i'm going to go with the planet audio (was able to find reviews of it online and people said they loved it)
I'm looking at the upgrade for the big 3, i'm just wondering how many feet of the 0 awg i'm going to need...50 foot seems to be a bit of overkill, yet I can't find them selling 25' anywhere.
Last but not least, a head unit! I found this at my local electronics store for clearance at $119. My only problem is, it says the cd signal to noise ratio is 70db. Does that mean my stuff is gonna skip if I bump too hard?
This is the CD player

let me know if you have any other suggestions on head units...Thanks again guys, I'll be sure to show some pics when I get it installed this weekend!

take an extension cord and make mach runs that you can measure to find out how much you need, it will also help to see what connectors/ends you need. You can get it by the foot at knu, don't forget to fuse the power wire 12-18" from the batt for safety.

Thanks, I bought the amount of 0 awg I needed.
I called sonic electronix to order my amp and they said truthfully that the Planet Audio would be slightly underrated as far as wattage and to go with a Hifonics Brutus 1601d. Any thoughts on this? I don't mind if they are slightly underpowered but at the same time I don't want it to sound horrible. Is the Planet Audio enough?

baloney!!
they just want to sell you something to make more money. Any amp with 4-35amp fuses is gonna have some power. My PG RSd 1200.1 has 4-30amp fuses and puts out dam near 1400RMS if not more.
take the Planet audio, if it was me i would.
