I have a few of those and loved how they sound. The 4402 is just slightly shorter than MS1000TA. One of those old school amps they'd never make now
But I have no luck finding the 4702. The guts of 4702 looks gorgeous. Those 4702 are as rare as FAS ?

they are all fairly rare seems like. they is maybe less than 4 on ebay at any time if lucky.
I am really liking the amp. it has had all caps replaced and been tuned to correct settings from factory. these amps have to be tuned internally to sound 100% .
it reminds me a lot of my old ZPA amps I loved.
4702 is a monster for sure.

gentlejax2,
Funny, the adcom seems to sound best when the gain is max out. Very well designed and built amp just like the old school PGs. No noise even with high gain set
Drooling on the 4702....
Separate chassis for power supply and amp sections

You should never max the gains as a rule of thumb. Measure your gains with a multimeter or oscilloscope and see where you REALLY have them set!

Ordinarlily I would say your right...
but in the case of the ADCOM it says right in the manual that if your bridging the amp(like I am) then to crank the gains to max ..it says full max not higher than normal...full
if I have time I will find it and link it for you myself...
otherwise I would say that your response was right on...and what i would normally do.
seriously ...did you think I didnt know how to set the gains or did you think I was a newb??

I don't care what the manual says, measure the output noob (JK)
Seriously, the output voltage is going to depend on the input voltage. If you max the gains the power will still differ based on how much voltage you put into the amp.
Keep in mind those Adcom car amps were made before high voltage RCAs became common in car audio. Back in their day 2 volts RMS was about as high as you would see... nowadays 4-8 volts is very common. You could do some serious damage like that!

I will research it some more and ask some people who know more about it than me...
I may turn them down a little since you insist...

just thought i would update...adcom died...not sure why...since I am not a amp tech I have decided not to spend even more on it or it would end up being the most expensive 4304 ever....
but it sure as hell sounded nice...I loved it and it had all the power one could need.
the line drivers for these amps put out 16volts .....I mention that cause the question about the gains being so high and the amps not being able to handle it ...
now on ebay
