I noticed that when i really drive the rsd65cs they put off a really strong rubber smell. I only get the smell when the speakers are pounding. Is this normal, and how long does the smell last.
thanks

Re: Speaker smell
that is the beginning of letting the magik smoke out, be carefull as it could mean you are in the danger zone.

Re: Speaker smell
are you telling me to turn it down??
I am still in the tuning stages
Am I driving the set too hard? I am running from the HU to the EQ215 and splitting the signal to use the XS4600 bridged into 2 channels. I have no clipping or distortion. Is this all the sound I can get out of these babbies. They sound incredible. But...
I might want more.....

Re: Speaker smell
If they are new, it could also be the glue curing. I usually notice it with new gear for a week or two.
Re: Speaker smell
It COULD be but in my experience the only time I smelt a speaker was when I was driving the piss out of it. What it is hooked up to has nothing to do with it really, any amp can heat up any speaker....

Re: Speaker smell
I've had my set hooked to an MS2125 and didn't smell anything at full bore playing for about 20 minutes or more of music. On the other hand, a friend blew a tweeter from a new set within a day from a crappy Sony amp which didn't surprise me.
