Dead right channel.

Post by brodzowski »

I have a grey 2125 that has a dead right channel. Is there a common or most common fix for why that would be? Is replacing the caps the answer? Should I take pix? It honestly looks ok under the hood, but I didn't look real close because I didn't know before hooking it up. I saw links to the various caps in the FAQ for replacements, but read that there were different choices. Wondering if someone could give direct links to the ones that would be most beneficial for this girl. Money is not nearly as much of an issue as performance and longevity.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well good news and bad news. I took my lunch hour because I was going to snap a couple pix for you and check those fuses, but they didn't turn out with enough detail to be of any use. However, in checking those fuses and every part of the board, I went ahead and just swapped them left to right just as a test. After hooking it back up, I tested R and L sides with the same result. Then as a snooker you got me to thinking about checking the silly stuff and switched the stereo-bridged switch and I heard a little pop but still no sound. Then I slid it slowly so that it was sitting sort of in the middle, but not quite and wah-lah. I've got both channels. Good news is the amp's not broken. Bad news is it's got a faulty stereo-bridge switch. So thank you for making me realize that I should be checking the silly stuff.

also just try moving all the controls, the gain and the switches ect. They can develope some corrosion that just light use can either fix or point to what is wrong.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
