RSd12 box recommendations?

Post by Blad09 »

So the manual says up to 3.2 cu.ft. "(heavy damping)". Is this polyfill or sumthin? My box is like 2.65 cu. after vent and sub displacement, should I be poly filling or is that even what that means? the only reason I ask is bcuz I just built the box and put a 12'' MTX in it and didn't even get a week of break in and the voice coil looks like a spider web of a mess. Could this be the box or just a shitty f'n sub? Gain was all the way down the whole time.

polyfill is one of those things that you really just don't know how it will effect the box/sub/sound IMO and it is something I like to try on each box just to see what sounds better. It only take a few minutes and costs a couple of bucks so IMO it is worth a try.

Now I am not sure about you mtx delema. IF the spider was comming apart it sounds like something was wrong.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I just wasn't sure cuz the manual says heavy damping so I thought it was a must or sumthin, but I am gonna try some fill just to see. My box has a 12''x3''x27'' long slot port, that should be okay right? As for the MTX, the spider is fine it's the voice coil that has come unwound and I picked a pour choice of words to describe it, lol. Thanks for input. Love the shit outta this phorum!!!!!!

33-35. Probably too high for the RSd? Might just seal it.

My experience with that sub is that it's just not as loud as I prefer..... The RSdC is mo-better and doesn't require such a big box............
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

I had an RSD 12 in a 1.8 cubic ft box with a port tuned to 29 hz and it stomped out the lows really well. Your ported box should work out just fine. I think that box is a little too big to seal up though IMO. You would be better off building a 1.5-1.8 cubic ft sealed box if you wanna do it right.

Yea I wouldn't use this one to seal, I am considering building one around 2 cu ft (before displacement) port tuned a bit lower with the option to plug the port but we'll see how I like the 2.65 I should have it all hooked up sometime today and I will decide if I like it enough. Thanks for all replies!!
