Mounting a capacitor near the driver seat?

I was wondering if mounting a capacitor up near the front seat would have the same effect as putting it near the amplifier.

My amp is mounted in my trunk, but I don't really like having to find a good place next to the amp for a capacitor. So I was thinking about mounting a capacitor in the middle of my power wire. I got a great spot next to my front seat for it, so I would say there probably is about an addition 10 ft of power wire running to the amp if I were to mount it near the front seat. I can ground the cap to some metal by itself and just splice the power wire on the positive terminal.

Would the capacitor do it's job by transferring power quickly if I still had 10 ft of power wire left to go to my amp?

I guess I have only seen capacitors mounted next to amplifiers. Is there a specific reason for that?

putting a capacitor too far from the amp drastically reduces it effectiveness, because when the amp pulls current from the cap the energy pulse will be reduced from the resistance in the length of the power wire. that's why you want the capacitor as close to the amp as possible like within a few feet, but the closer the better always.

I question how much they do to begin with and how much of a difference it would make to put it 10 ft down the power wire. It would still look cool which is what 3/4 of the cap installs is about.

i look at it like this treat the wire as a mudhole and the current like at mud truck, ok you got the mud truck running fast to go through the mudhole but as soon as you hit the mudhole the truck slows down. now if the mudhole (power wire) is really long it will slow your mud truck (current) down alot. but if the mudhole is short then you can go through it with less speed loss, i know this is some major rocket science.

again, the gains from a cap are nominal at the best and I think is more of a plecebo effect then anything and moving it 10 ft down will not make that big of a difference....
