LPL44 NOT WORKING...

Post by Ryno1337 »

I attempted to make my own LPL44, using a 50kohm pot meter and some telephone wire. All the wire connections are soldered properly, I plug it in to the amp and theres nothing!! WTF!! I looked online and came across a thread that said the LPL44 only works when your low pass cross over is activated. Ok so I did that and this knob still doesnt freakin work!!

Someone help!

Have you checked the connection of the lpl44 with a multimeter, so you`re 100% sure its correct ?

I have found that soldering telephone cable can be a bit of a pain to get it to stick. The wire becomes brittle after its soldered and can break easily so I would triple check that.

Did you get a linear pot or a logorythmic(SP?) pot?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

If you use the "biip" function on the multimeter, then you can measure the connection from the potmeter to the according point in the plug. That way you know if the connection is present or there has been a switch of cables/ or cable break.

You can also use the "ohm" function to measure between the two senter points in the plug to one of the sides. That`s gonna be the same as measure between senter of the pot to one of the side connections. The value will vary depending on the type of pot you have used.
