Thoughts on the Roadster 66
I'm thinking of picking up the Roadster 66 in the FS section...
Just not sure of the overall quality. I'm also considering putting together a true custom PG amplifier...

The seller, jeremy , is a pretty stand up guy. Im sure he would answer any questions you have honestlyJ.Wright wrote:I'm thinking of picking up the Roadster 66 in the FS section...

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
Oh I'm sure he would... I'm just curious of the overall opinion of the Roadster amps as a whole.

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
I have 2 of them and since I have one thats complete I do not need the second one.
This monster is very much a PG quality as it can get for being new school. This is pretty much a RSD 300.4 and a RSD 600.1 under one large sink, These boards are slighly different then the stand alone RSD amplifiers as they are made to run in sync with one power/ground input.
This thing has power it has 4 40amp fusing and has 1/0 gauge wire terminals.
The main issue with this is its size it is a monster, but the power output is spot on and underrated.
If you are interested I can post gut shots as I do have some.

A friend of mine has been using a pair of RSD 1200.1s for almost a year. Half of that year he had them running at about 1ohm. The amps are still running strong and they do get worked daily. They barely get warm and have survived dead shorts after a few mishaps. I think the quality of the 1200.1 is pretty good considering the use we've got of it...
Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
The Roadster is a great amp, combining the Rsd 500.4 and Rsd 600.1 into one chassis. I've been running mine for two years now with no problems and good sound quality.J.Wright wrote:I'm thinking of picking up the Roadster 66 in the FS section...

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
the rsd's are awesome. they have the most robust circuit board of any amp since the ms's they have pg's tried and true and awesome triple darlington outputstage. they are cea2006 rated so their power out puts are quite deceiving.
if i had the money, that amp would already be in my house

I would love that amp, just can't put it in my daily driver.

it's a 300.4 not 500.4, nice looking amp....dwnrodeo wrote:The Roadster is a great amp, combining the Rsd 500.4 and Rsd 600.1 into one chassis. If you are not looking for massive power it's a keeper IMO. I think it would be great for a simple mid power system.
screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
Nope. Pretty sure its a 500.4. Look at the bigger circuit board... 300.4 is the same size as the 600.1. Power ratings also indicate it's not a 300.4.Stryker wrote: it's a 300.4 not 500.4, nice looking amp....

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
plenty of room for it in my mustang, but then I was willing to dedicate the back seat to it as well.
They have been becomming harder to find. Shortly after I got mine I had a serious offer for 2x what I paid for it.

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
It is a large amplifier. I have mine sitting between the shock towers of my Neon SRT-4 and it clears by a couple of inches each side. I believe it was OldSchoolFool who said the reason they didn't use the 1200.1 board and went with the 600.1 board was because it would have been too long and would not fit in the trunk of most smaller cars.

Not sure about that personally...dwnrodeo wrote:It is a large amplifier. I have mine sitting between the shock towers of my Neon SRT-4 and it clears by a couple of inches each side. Check out the gap on the 600.1 side. It looks like it was designed to fit a 1200.1, but they scaled it down when they realized most people probably don't need that much power. The 500.4 and 1200.1 are the same size, so there should be plenty of room to have one.

Maybe the power terminals get in the way? I'm sure there would have been a way around that though...

they should have put in a large cap bank like the octane!

Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
Now I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the gap between the two boards is intended to keep the class D board away from the class A/B section so that the switching "noise" from the class D board does not interfere with the class A/B board.stipud wrote:Not sure about that personally...dwnrodeo wrote:It is a large amplifier. This is correct, I still think they could have put a custom piece of empty circuit board in there with an etched PG logo with the serial number and XXX/1000 badge.
Either way its a cool amplifier and I can say that I have owned 2 of them lol!
Re: Thoughts on the Roadster 66
I was disappointed that they cheaped out on the power wires from the power terminals to the boards. 12 awg?! c'mon you use to show your wire with pride, no wonder there was no window with this one.
