roadster or rsd question

Post by kg1961 »

first question what kind of power increase does the rsd amp have at 3ohm for the class d amps? vs 4 or 2ohm
also what is the roadster 500.4 amp side bridged#?
are these under rated what does the owner birth sheet say?

power ratings on the roadster
also i printed that off it doesn't say anything about the 4 channel being bridged
yes the mono is class d but i am wondering how much power will it make at 3ohm(10% more 20%??)? also what is the bridged power on the 4 channel side. I want to make sure i have the right amount of power for the diamond audio speaker and my jl tw5

the 300.1's are actually a/b, the big mono's are class d

the 500.5's are rated at 250 x 2.

they ARE cea 2006 rated. which is actually a pretty big deal as far as power ratings are concerned. before manufactures could test their amp with a small segment of waves (not music) where as cea amps get 20-20k signal. in both processes they push the amp until a certain distortion peak is hit (i dont recall what that was) so obviously an amp forced to produce the full spectrum vs a very small one, will hit distortion long before, and thus its power ratings will look lower.

so what i'm saying is....rsd amps are much more powerful then they seem on paper. i have no proof to back it up, but i would bet something substantial that if you tested rsd amps the same way xenon's were....the rsd500.4 (rated at 85x4) would show more power then the x100.4 per channel

The Roadster sub section is designed to do 650 watts at 2 ohms and 400 watts at 4 ohms.

It's not dodging it, I stated what the manual says at 4 ohms and 2 ohms. You can pretty much figure it will do about halfway between 400 watts and 650 watts at 3 ohms. Say 500?

I have not owned this amp so this is why i was asking 500 is perfect. i was wondering if someone that had one or tested it had the real number
Its all good thanks

With Impedance rise you will be closer to 4 ohm, it is safe to say that this will easly to over 400+ at 4ohm with a 3 ohm load and a possible rise of 3.xxx you will be getting close to 500 watts the difference between 400 and 500 is almost impossible to detect with the human ear only true way to find out is to get some sort of RTA and meter it.
