Sounds good, ill post it up tonight when i get a chance. I am having the idea that it is becuase of the magnet being cracked on two sides and a peice of the magnet, about the size of 2/3 of a candys corn (got to love the halloween name drop) missing. I was just surprized that with the magnet being in such bad shape that it doesnt bind on the stator.

Ill get that vid up for you guys,

Incase i havent said it enough, thabks for helping me out.

Is the noise happening when it IN a enclosure or just sitting on a table?
Cause when the Cyclone is in an enclosure the noises change big time.
Most of the clicks and clacks go away.

a dragging sound, or slight hissing is normal but any clicking means there is something worse wrong.

it is certainly not the cleanest speaker but when used correctly it will never fail to impress. As mentioned it does better when it fired into the trunk to let the trunk drown out the noises.

Like I said I would love to know what modern technology and a couple of revisions could make of it....

A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....

I put an M50 bridged to mine and free air, it only chuffled, no ticks clanks or bangs. I thought I heard a hint of buzzing since it was crossed a bit high, but otherwise smooth as silk...

It didn't move as much as mhyde's video, but it was moving some air... I'll try it again tonight.

Here is a video of it in the enclosure, its a bit long, but at the end i move away from the enclosure and it is very apparent the sound that i am talking about. When i move away the clone is playing 31-34 hz.

Yeah, something definitely ain't right there. Perhaps try disconnecting the motor from the vanes and see if it creates noise on its own? Obviously only do this at very low power...

How would you go about isolating the motor from the veins? The previous owner used silicone of some sort when putting it back together after servicing it and i now callon access the top of the stator. I dont know if that makes a differance or not in trying to isolate the motor.

Snail you asked me about the price on my Clone.

I am asking 350.00 + ship ConUS.

From the sounds of yours you are going to have to rebuild the sucker, unfortunatly a new magnet structure is pretty impossible to find. I would try getting new bearings for it.

Also , on the first page i was saying that the previous owner over tightened one of the 2 nuts on the bottom of the speaker, causing one of the "swerlly" things to mushroom out a bit at the bottom. From one to the other there is about a 1/16" differance, and because of the taper i cannot just put a 16th inch shim under it. Ill take some pics.
