mps 2240 power

Post by robroy713 »

ok....i bought this on ebay for 80 bucks......got some great advice from some of the phorum dudes here, and i replaced the caps.
and due to monetary constraints(the wife),i painted rather than coated the tins.hooked it to 2 kicker 10s and it hits nice.
question is does anyone know what realistic output is....i have the rated specs...but i have 2 4ohm dual vc run in parallel connected in stereo....14.5/14.8 continuous volts

It will do rated power and then some. In your case 2x64W+ RMS

If you want more power, connect all four voicecoils in parallel for a 1ohm load and then bridge that.
MPS amps are optimised for low ohm loads. You should get 288W RMS plus plenty of headroom, 500W+ dynamic power.

Just make sure you use at least 4ga power/ground cable.

sweet....it hits pretty good but protects itself.....and gets hot enough to fry eggs....(this being bridged)
but i will say i have a 1800 watt kac9152d kenwood.....and the little 2240 almost drops right with it

So did you wire it 1ohm bridged?

Does it go into thermal or overload mode? Yellow or red light?
If heat is the issue, that can be remedied with a fan or better installation place.

If the power wiring is not up to the task, that can cause overheating as well.
