SD1300.5

Post by dwnrodeo »

Has anyone seen the new compact five channel on PG's website? It looks like it puts out some serious power numbers! It even comes close to the Ti1600.5. I am contemplating getting the Ti, but with numbers like the SD's in a smaller package, I am having second thoughts. I've never heard full range class D before and wonder if I could tell a difference.

SD1300.5 is A TON of power in a small package.

Conservatively does:

80w x 4 at 4 ohms for front and rear
800w x 1 at 2 ohms on the woofer channel

I have personally used this amp to power two Ti2 12d2's and it crushes them. Very tight, accurate, amp barely gets warm.

That is a great price for that much power in a small chassis. I think I'll give one a try.

Sorry to bring this back...I'm considering the same two amps - the SD13.5 and the ti16.5. Does anyone have some newer feedback now that these are out?

Ti's are under rated and a higher quality amp.

The SD1300.5 has been a very good seller for us. Its got surprisingly strong power especially on the sub channel in such a small pacakage. It will toss around any decent pair of 12s you put on the sub channels, its a conservative 800 watts. Front and rear channels are full range class D, so they don't generate much heat.

The Ti1600.5 is ALOT bigger physically. But front and rear channels makes a bit more power and uses a Class A/B output section, so when its driven really really hard its a bit more dynamic. It has a complete crossover section and the sub is stable to 1 ohm if needed.

SD1300.5s usually go into daily drivers, while the Ti1600.5 make it into the more "showier" vehicles and boats.

Both our good amps but certainly quite different.

I ended up purchasing an SD1300.5 and I like it. I even convinced a friend of mine to get one as well. I listed the pros and cons here: http://phoenixphorum.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=20680 It's a great little amp in a super small package.
