tantrum question

Post by nutxo »

The tantrum 1200 puts out the same power at 4ohms as it does at 1? Like the xenons and the RF BDCPs?

it doesnt do it the same way as a xenon....

but yes. it is limited at 2 and 1 ohm. its heat sink can't dissipate the extra heat, so it has its output limited

The Tantrums are 4 ohm optimized, and don't have a TON of headroom. At 2 ohms you will get considerably more heat and current draw for the same wattage. I wouldn't even bother at 1...

The Xenon line is the only PG line that is capable of true 1-4 ohms support, due to Xe.load, which configures the amplifier on startup, after detecting the connected load.

Stupid hit the nail on the head.

Do not run a T1200.1 at 1 ohm, its absolutely not made for that load.
