Xenon X100.4 fan and red internal led turns on, no power?

Post by Fallen1 »

Hey guys. I have an amp that is really confusing me. I got it from ebay, great condition, all boots, etc, as is. Issue stated in the listing is exactly what I have going on- Put power to the amp, fan kicks on high for a second, while that's happening the far left led comes on bright, then it fades and the far right fades in. When the far left fades completely the far right turns bright and the fan kicks down to a normal speed. No blue power light, no output whatsoever not even the speaker pop when you power the amp on. The transistors and rectifiers remain cool. I inspected the board and its components with a bright light and magnifying glass and found no burnt or cracked components, burnt etching, or otherwise. I did find two small caps that were leaking from the posts- one barely, one badly. I replaced them, no change. There are no other signs of bad caps, they all look new aside from a little dust. In fact, the whole inside of the amp looks new aside from thermal paste, dust, and a couple resistors that were jumpered in (looks professional, as I have seen the same thing in my xenon mono that was professionally repaired, also in almost the same area). I de-soldered them, no change. I tested them, theyre fine. I'm usually pretty good at identifying problems on an amp, but this has me lost.
Any ideas? The cost of having it professionally repaired is about the same or more than to just wait and buy a working one. I really want a xenon 4 channel on my mids.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Sadly, it could be anything with the Xenon series. The first gen amps had cold solder issues, which would cause different parts of the amp to fail.
