Your thoughts on Treo Subs

Post by soundbit »

Just wanted to get some thoughts/opinions on Treo subs. Specifically the TE service and SSi series.

The TE was intended to be their SQ line, SSi is their "it's got it all" line. While a few friends believe the SSi sounds better then the TE, we TL'd a set and the TE were louder by just over 1dB. Same amp/box/resistance/setup......

I love both of them. I ran 2 of the SSi12.22's and loved them. Sold them ONLY to fund the sub I have now as I have wanted one for some time and kg1961 found one for me.

I am looking for a sub to compete with the IDMAX. If they had and IDMAX 15 id run it as I just love the effortless output of a 15. Yet I still need a pretty small box and the TE seems to fit that bill. did you think the SSI or the TE sounded better?

If the Treo sub is 2003 or older, it is junk.

Poor fit and finish.
Poor performance.
Poor power handling.

I can't comment on any of their subs made newer than that.

Good to know. Seems like I remember seeing Treo subs at USACi 2003 finals and even before then.

The subs I had were from 2008.
Personally, I liked the SSi's a pinch better. Over all I think the better bang for the buck would go to the TE.
