Ti 1200 or MS1000...
I'm considering using a MS 1000 TA to run my TiElite 12D. I originally got a Ti1200.1 to push it, happened upon the MS1000 & now wondering if it would be more powerful to use the MS. I was told to strap 2 Ti800's to the Elite but didn't have 2 & sold the one to help fund the 1200... Now I have this MS1000 that I'm not sure if I wanna restore it nice & shiny to sell or keep for the Elite & sell my 1200. Any thoughts on this? From what I've gathered the MS may be a better sounding amp as far as SQ, although the 1200 seems to fit better since it is a monoblock pair to the sub & all. I just can't help to think about how sweet it would be to do a killer setup with my Ti stuff & top it off with the exposed MS as my sub center peice!

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
I know all the purists will not like my post, but have you considered using something Class D?
For the longest time I was against Class D for SQ sub use, but my opinion has been changing. Everyone agrees the TiElite 12D does better with more power. Well, I am pretty confident it would sound better as well, with MORE power from a Class D amp than less from a Class A/B amp. I have had such great results with the S1000.1, I have convinced several of my friends to switch to them. They still run nice A/B amps on their components, but chose to bury an S1000.1 somewhere in their install for sub duty. They don't need as big of power wire, or any capacitance, or a high output alternator. Class D is just so much more efficient.
Plus, consider the S1000.1 is really a low end product compared to others PG has to offer. Any of the new Ti Class D mono amps, or especially the Elite Class D amp will blow the S1000.1 away.
I would only advocate using a Class A/B sub amp in a lower powered SQ installation. Most people could be very satisfied with say a ZX500 on subs, and a ZX450 on components. That makes for a nice balanced SQ system, but just does not have the "umph" for running a TiElite 12D.

Ti 1200 or MS1000...
I've never had an ms amp. But I've tried a few different mono amps over the past few months. My preference is still the ti amps. I am running two ti800.1's right now, and two ti10d4's. this setup is the best I've tried so far. My RSD 1200.1 are nice but don't sound as good as the ti's in my opinion. I also recently was thinking of strapping two 800's to a dd12 just for fun. But I ran the idea by someone with a lot more knowledge than I have. And it was recommended on not doing it. And as far as I am aware you just don't have any worries with the ti amps. I would love to try a ti1200.1, but they are hard to find here. I always seem to find 1200.2's.
Ti 1200 or MS1000...
Eric, so am I understanding this right? If I were to run four RSD1200.1 instead of four ti800.1's, the RSD's would be less power hungry. I will be installing the 250amp alt in soon.

Are you going to use the ms @ 2 Ohms mono or each side bridged to each coil?

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
From all the amps you have, you're ms1000ta will be you're best SQ amp.....
i would use it completely for the front setup........
If you're 1200.1ti is in perfect working order, it seems you have also a bass cube,(if you know good how to work with it )
with this combo on that one ti sub,at least in a car totally sounddeatened and an electrical system that is heavy enough......
that will sound badass..... both on power and on SQ..
Two big amps, for the complete system. would indeed be nice i suppose......
would be great if you wanna stay oldskool, but yes if you got a chance why not TRYING OUT a class D amp ??
but you can buy for example a new elite.1 and then 2 brand new elite subs of 1600w rms......where does it stops, of course ??
i just think it is typical for the older generation to refuse of going class D....... (damn i'm getting old.....don't tell the girls

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
I plan on using ti 5 or 6s with the 9s (when I get them) off the 500.4, the reactor for back doors, mid bass, & 1200 for tear. but with this ms, I now am trunking my approach...
my wife would kill me if I decided to try some new amp add I wouldn't wanna get rid of my others. plus it was hard enough building the collection I have, new Amps would much me up even if they are"better"

you have amps enough for three cars......please vernish the ti's before the corrosion starts.....Wrennagade wrote:I plan on using ti 5 or 6s with the 9s (when I get them) off the 500.4, the reactor for back doors, mid bass, & 1200 for tear. but with this ms, I now am trunking my approach...

reactor for the back doors ??? what do you wanna put in there ?? focus on you're front doors..... will be much better....
don't try to put way too much amps in one car.....just make good decisions....

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
Sorry my wording earlier was muddled due to typing on my cell while trying to permanize our house...
What I'd eventually like to accomplish as far as a setup is the 500.4 running 3 way active with TI tweets, 5 or 6's, & the 9 inchers.
Then have my Reactor run two 12's off the 450 side (bridged) for midbass & the 500 running 2 ways or components to the back doors. To finish it off, I was planning on the 1200.1 (w/ CUBE) running my EliteD. I just got a Ti Powercore 15 that is basically new in box & would be able to have the amps all fed from this. This is an idea I want to do for a 4runner down the road when I find one I want thats in my budget. The MS is so sweet looking it makes me rethink my planning tho...maybe you guys are right, I should do the wifes ride to so as not to overkill things...too bad she drives a Taurus...

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
i would not put tweeters or mids in you're back doors.....it will destroy you're front stage.....
you're idea of going active is very good. just put enough power on the 9's(when you have them)
my idea for you was, running one side of the ms1000 on a passive twowayset of tweeter and 5'
and the other side of the ms1000 on the 9's.
you could do this also with the reactor, zx450 front on tweeters, rear on 5's, and zx500 on the 9's.......
but for SQ, i personnally would go for the ms1000ta over the reactor and ti amps on the speakers.....
i don't think that powercore will be enough. combine it with a good deep cycle battery in the back.....
good luck with it.....

Ti 1200 or MS1000...
I think the best set up SQ wise is MS1000TA up front and Class D on the subs. I've got an RSD1200.1 on 3-RSDC12d2s and it is amazing. Most importantly, the amp doesn't get hot... I've used a TI500.4 on components and TI9s and you will be very disappointed giving the 9s such little power. I tried a TI600.2 to the 9s and they woke up, but they still need more power. You could bridge the 500.4 to the 9s and that would be the best TI option for them...

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
Hmmm...thanks for the input. As for the power needs, there's a guy who has a yellow top Optima for $80. He says it needs re-charged so I'll meet him at an authorized Optima place so they can test it for me before I buy it...but, the guy at the shop said Optimas are junk now. I looked into kinetiks but can't spend much more than a bill on one with would be the K800 but would that be enough to power 2-3 amps+accessories? Also read that if I don't have a good alt then 2nd batt won't do squat? Mines a stock alt. So alt, then get battery or will the yellowtop or k800 help me out enough on power?

I too have not heard much good about optima for some time. Have you checked out the online prices for kinetik? Can't remember where I got mine from I think it was woofer ect but the price shipped was MUCH cheaper then anything nearby.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

well I can get a kinetik hc1200 for $179 (over my max but...) with free shipping from sonic. without a HO alt would this suffice? I'm going to start with my Reactor & Ti1200.2 in the subie, save the big setup for a 4runner(on wish list currently

Re: Ti 1200 or MS1000...
Too spendy for me, I'm thinking of getting the used Optima (if tested good) for under hood, & a Shuriken SKBT45 for audio. I'm looking into just having the stock alt rebuilt for more juice down the road. Money is a stress point so I'll get what I can without putting too much of a hurt on my wallet. I don't compete or anything & although this is my hobby/passion, can't let it become priority...
Hopefully during xmas break I can start the next Subie install. I'll be sure to take lots of pics so you guys can help guide my novice endeavors!
