I just finished deadening the first of my four doors in my car, and got the speaker installed and hooked up. I was eager to test if it had made any SQ difference, so I cranked that one channel up a little, not a whole lot. No distortion occured, and my JL Audio C2-650 speaker is rated at 60 Watts vs. the 90 Watts @ 4 Ohm per channel amp output. I noticed that the deep punchy bass drum was missing out a little. I run full range om my door speakers.
Suddenly after playing for about half a minute out of that one door speaker, the amp went into Protect mode, and has been like that since. I tried to unplug all of the speaker cables and signal cables from the amp, to prevent any ground shortage, but it still lights up the Protect mode LED. I believe that the amp has no built-in fuse, that could have blown, as that was not mensioned in the user manual. The power supply read 12,5 V.
Did I just fry my new amp by playing on one channel only?
Does the Protect mode come off automatically, or does it have to be reset somehow?
Has any one had similar issues with that amp?
Many thanks in advance!
