Just getting ready to build an amp and battery rack.
Started making my battery cables this morning. I'm very happy with how they turned out.
I just need to find one more set of the battery terminals that areon the left side of the batt in the close up pic, and a 3 or 4 way 1/0 power and ground distros.
I also need to get 1 more elite12d4 to replace the one that blew up a couple months ago.
So just a few more items and I'll be ready to install.
Drock wrote:Question, is it better one way or the other to run the rear batts to the front batteries, or straight to the alt. I need to do three runs to the back.

First of all.. Nice work!
Second.
I would run it to the front battery.. remember a split charge relay. between front and rear power banks! ( battery´s)

Once I get the fused power ground distros I will make another set of cables to goto the amp from the distro. I put the cables on the amp just for the picture.
Only thing I don't like is that putting the cables into amp terminals is tricky, ( trying not to have any loose strands is harder than it looks. Plus even with the heat shrink the wire still shows the strands where they enter the terminal.
So I think I'll order some of those 1/0 terminal adaptor thingy's. That should give it a nice clean look.

Very nice work on the cables! Man that amp is a beast I have never seen one in person don't think anyone around here has one!

Derek ...if ur having problems with the stray wires you can always twist the ends as much as you can and the tin them with solder ...keeps everything together and no stragglers.

Thanks Bryan, I did try that but the wire 1/0 is so big and is basically a heat sink in itself. My iron would not get hot enough to ever melt the solder.

Like ttocs said, a larger iron / torch will work ...the link below is what I use and works like a charm.
A plumbers Mapp Gas or Propane torch will work great! (Mapp burns hotter) and when your done you can fix things around the house too! Or light off fireworks

<------ LIKE!!!!
Then, the plit charge relay / solenoids i am using, is for 200 AMP.. Remeber the altornator are not running more than max 200AMP!
Im running a GM POWERMASTER 200AMP .
Therefore no need for bigger.. IMO
Only if you are running bigger, or multipli altornator´s!

But what is the plan with those altornators.. one for the front power bank and one for the rear??
I would hook up one for each powerbank, ( the 3 optimas in rear on one alt. - and one alt. for the motor/ car electric system )
Rear powerbank with split charge relay in between each optima is overkill.. IMO
If the battery´s are all new, it shoulden´t be a problem though.. Then again, if you are planing to use one ALT. for this powerbank, then you DON´T need split charge relay.. because the other ALT. is running you engine and electrics!
It´s very important to know what the plans are... you could use both for the hole setup, but then you´l need split charge relay for ALL the battery´s!!
But hey Drock... Its a hell of a beast you are about to install!! and it´s deffently gonna need some big ass powerbank!

personally I have had bad long term results from soldering 0 awg. Don't know why but about 4 yrs later the whole connection came apart as though a lot of small vibrations eventually ate away at it.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
So far looking great!
You probably already know this, but, from the picture, I did notice that you still need to run a few more cables between the battery terminals to join all the batteries together in parallel . One more pos to pos and one more neg to neg.
