Sub comparison

I am new to the Phorums and was wondering if I could get some feedback. I am an old school PG guy, all the way back to the MS series days. I am rebuilding my system and can't decide between the elite 12's or the orion HCCA 12's. I am running all soundstream Ta series amps, either a Ta1.3000d or 2 Ta1.2000d's. Both mono amps and rated as 3000 and 2000 rms respectively at 1 or .5 ohms. And help or recommendations on which sub to go with would be great. I've heard old elites and I have a friend with 2 Orion HCCA122's running off of a soundstream Trd3400 I believe(the amp that stands up instead of lays down). I really want the PG's but need to justify the extra 250$/sub.

I've always thought if you really want it than that would justify it. Buy what you want or you'll always think "what if".

I agree with you on that, the Orions are monsters my friend has a 2013 chrysler 200 as I do and he hits a steady 142db, but Phoenix Gold has always been my baby, so going performance wise, is the cost worth it? if they are a better performing sub, than yes, was hoping that maybe someone had exposure to the 78lb Hcca's. My local shop has no real demo setup for the PG line, even though they carry it so I have to wait till a guy with 2015 camry comes back so I can hear the Elite's

Are you asking about the new elite sub or old
The orion are better imo
There is a memeber here with 4 doa new elite and pg will not replace
Also you can not buy a recone kit
Not a good idea if you ask me

Was looking at new ones. My local shop would replace. They r doing the install

yes the shop for a year but after that your on the hook
I would still buy the hcca

Thanks for info and recommends, deciding to run the HCCA's, local shop just isn't giving PG the show or even ability for me to hear or see performance. Switched up and am running 1 Ta3000.1 to each sub at 2ohm(less distortion). Still not sure on mid bass for rear fill and comps to use in doors. I jut sold my 6.5 Elite's I have been sitting on for yrs. Paid a boat load and sold for pennies. Blah. How are the new Pg mids and highs?
