m100 8ohm bridge
m100 8ohm bridge
Hey fella...anyone have any idea of what to expect power wise with an m100 running an 8ohm bridge...is it less then the 4ohm rating on the bridge? Here is why I ask....I've got 2 gs redline 15s that are 8ohm subs and they are rated at 500 rms 1000 dynamic...want to run them off of two m100s but if I am not going to be getting at least 75percent of the rated power to them I don't want to run em....
Have other sub options...but these are my fav out of my sub collection right now and they are new...though one was cracked in shipping and has gotten the silicone treatment...but still love them....

just remeber that most pg amp are under ratted so about 1/2 of 4 ohm. But if you ask there might be a way to make them work at higher power at 8ohm like the PG mac amps
most of my gear is gone :liar:

Re: m100 8ohm bridge
Ha - reviving an old thread.
My one sub has 4ohm DVCs. It's rated at 250WRMS. If I ran my M100 on 8ohms with my sub, I understand that the power will be around the quoted 300 watts, which is fine with me.
My question is, in running it at an 8ohm load, what will the amp current draw be? Way less than 4 and 2 ohms? In terms of sound quality, will there be any issues running it at 8ohms? Will the amp be affected in any way running it at 8ohms?
My sub is for now, but down the road, I will replace it with something else, hence why I got and will use the M100 for the sub part of the system.

man old post it will not affect sq at all and you will use about 1/2 the current of 4 ohm bridged

Google searching does dig up oldie threads, I know! I try to search first, then ask after.
That's what I was thinking.. 2ohms twice from 4.. 4 twice from 8. Ok, nice to know. Just asking all the questions over the winter so when spring comes, I'll have all my questions answered
I was thinking of powering each voice coil individually.. but I could run into some issues with having each coil powered the same. I do have a few multimeters, but I'm not sure how I would be able to measure each channel to see if they output the same... to not damage the sub. I'd rather series or parallel them. And avoid buying a new sub for either a 4ohm load, or to replace a fried one hehehe.

Re: m100 8ohm bridge
bridge the signal either with splitters into the amps or be sure its a mono signal and you will be fine powering them separately. Its really not all that big of a deal to play the coils on a stereo signal as most home stereo systems with the sub/satallite systems run a DVC sub that plays a stereo signal. I have seen people power a DVC sub with the coils out of phase and it didn't hurt anything although they did not do it for long...
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Re: m100 8ohm bridge
I had an M100 dyno tested.
Here are the results for the certified test:
8 ohm bridged - 397 watts, 46 amp current draw
4 ohm bridged - 481 watts, 66 amp current draw
The big difference came in the dynamic power test
8 ohm bridged - 395 watts
4 ohm bridged - 701 watts

Awesome, that's good info to have on hand. Got any other M series dyno numbers for fun? I got M50s and an M44 in my stash with the M100.oilworker wrote:I had an M100 dyno tested.

Ha. I've watched a lot of your videos. You made me want to buy an amp dyno
