Do both subs do the same thing?
Is one worse than the other?
Are they consecutive serial numbers?
I have seen subs built before where the part of the construction process in which the voice coil is soldered to the tinsel leads was forgotten. Or the coil to tinsel junction was not covered in epoxy. When this happens, this connection starts loosening and arcing. The arcing will produce significant heat, and can easily cause a fire which would in turn be a major problem.
But, this is very rare.
I have seen it happen on Rockford Power HX2, and Punch HX2 woofers. I do not know if the newer woofers would have the same problem, but it seems plausible.
bad ground
This will not work. Even with clipping, the signal is still AC, and you cannot measure it with DC on a voltmeter.VW337 wrote:Warm is not uncommon. Do a test similar to the last but with the RCA's connected to the amp. Leave all speakers disconnected and turn the volume up to your typical listening levels then using a meter read the DC voltage on the speaker output terminals of the amp.
If you register some DCV then this will indicate clipping, adjust the amp gain down until the DCV is eliminated or just quits lowering in value.
However, I suppose it is possible one side of his amp’s Class A/B output has failed, which would allow only the positive or negative half cycle to work. This would register as no DC with no input signal, but high DC with a high input signal. I have never seen this happen, and do not know if it is even possible, but in theory it would seem possible.
In this case, the alternating DC voltage would still sound like music, but the high DC offset would heat up the woofers rapidly, and lead to their deaths.
I removed my subs from the box today and discovered the mesh/aluminum grilles (where the speaker says MAX, appears its used for thermal dissipation?) had come unglued and were stuck to the magnet. Does the magnet get hot? Hot enough to melt glue? Im just throwing questions out, maybe i was smelling the glue that was on the mesh grilles? I have posted a url of a picture of the subs that i have, and you can see the mesh grilles.

I don’t want to sound like a dick, but I think your speakers are low quality, and that is causing your problems. They probably have a small voice coil or too much cosmetic junk glued all over them.
You are likely giving them too much power, now that your larger amp is running them. Even though they may be rated for plenty, flea market brands like Lanzar never handle what they are rated at. And often their peak ratings are WAY higher then their RMS ratings. Flea market companies don’t have any standards they must adhere too, so they can rate their products what ever they feel like on that day or in that year.
You should consider getting a better pair of woofers which match the higher quality and greater power output of your amplifier.

I agree with Eric but in a kinder gentler way, the amp you have is very likely sending the subs way more power than they can effectively handle so any excess in power will equate to heat and if the heat can not be efficiently dealt with they will soon fail.
I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.
i think i may have figured out my problem. I removed my speaker wire going from the amp to the subs, and what i found was 2 strands of wire (16 gauge wire) connected to the speaker box terminal on the + one. im going to completely rewire my amp to sub wiring, hopefully this solves the problem. the subs were hooked up to a hifonics hercules amp in my friends car and they worked fine, gain was 3/4, no distortion or funny smell. I will update when i am finished! Also, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me, without you guys, MY STUFF WOULD BE ON EBAY!
