is it possible to have the cyclone mounted ib? i mean proper ib so it's working out of the car floor!
think this is an insane idea

No Dont do it. You are thinking of an Aperiodic setup that the Cyclone wouldnt work in. It might work good if you used the trunk as the enclosure and the Cyclone fired into the drivers cabin from the rear deck.

That's not an Aperiodic that he is refering to, he's talking "true infinate baffle".
The world is your subbox?
Hmmm
I would not recommend it myself, I can see the power handling going right out the floor (pun?) and having less than satifactory results, due to the enclosure now being the interior of the car and is grossly oversized for the driver, it's also not very sealed, and will change with the opening of the windows and such, changing the tuning of the "enclosure" pretty much at random.
Why would you open a hole in the trunk to let trash and water in? I read about aperiodic setups that are opened to the atmosphere but they are in an Aperiodic enclosure on one side which acts as a sealed enclosure. The setup you talking about is just not gonna happen.
PG Phorum is like a box of empty chocolates. Nothing to appreciate and no satisfaction.
actually i dont see why you cant make it apereodic.
if you can isolate the rear wave from the front wave and make a membrane that sits on the back side of the sub then it would work fine.
the elements would fuck up the sub in the long run but if it is only for show then it would be fine.
i personally wouldnt do it and jsut put that thing in 3 + cubic ft tuned low..
buy some seriously good 10s to pick up the higher notes and rock on.
You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!

go with that...
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?
Ummm.. I am currently playing with 2 cyclones IB. They play well. literally installed 3 x 600.2's. 1 on 2 cyclones, and they work smooth. low bass is phenom and controlled. Power handling is sacrificed a bit but when you have 2 that is plenty air movement. Still playing but the bottom line is they play low and loud in this configaration. the boot internal volume is around 6 cu ft. So i guess its like a high loss sealed box...
i'll be at source this month so if your there i'll pop over for a chat
not sure if i'm competing yet.....

Marko will be good to catch up. Spent some time with Bill Hasbrook. You may of heard of him. He took danley's design and made it nearly manufacturable. He gave me a tutorial on taking them apart and cleaning them..... Yes we can now service our clones in the uk. Great experience. Learnt loads from him... See pic. This was th BNIB one. He said when they stand any particals that come off the neodiums oxidise when left standing for a while...
I gotta take my spare cyclone apart...any pointers? I see the 4 hex longgggg screws....and two smaller ones ( i dont have a tool for the smaller ones yet).
But other than that any other things I should know? or do I even need to take the 2 smallers ones out?

Cyclones are capable of producing elephant mating calls. Therefore, if mounted IB, you would risk a stampede from every circus within 100 km. Probably not a good idea

Wakeup, there is no harm in treading on thread. As for pointers. When I have a bit more time I will do a cleaning how to. ITs so important. The four hex bolts at top hold cap. The clamp in the cap holds the torsion bar. the hex screws are us equiv to a 4mm allen key. The lead in wires are connected to the posts. These are fragile so be careful and if broke can't be rplaced as they go into the stator.
You then see what is in the pic also if there noisey you will see a build up of magnetic fur. over the magnets. This is what needs cleaning. But you have to pull the stator out. This is the tricky bit cos the force is immense. I will talk this thorugh later.
I hope this is a start and hopefully we can service our own cyc's to a point. It was good chatting to Bill Hasbrook. He was excellent.
