Fan Replacement on a ZX350
Fan Replacement on a ZX350
Hi Folks,
I'm new here and this is my first post. Please be gentle.
I have a ZX350 v2 that I've had for years (in the limited edition black finish) that has a really noisy cooling fan. I've procrastinated for quite a while on this but would still very much prefer to fix it.
Is this a DIY? And if so, any recommended fans to look at? Or am I going to have to send the amp in somewhere? (I own three ZX amps and have never opened any of them before).
Thanks.
Jason

hi jason,
welcome to the forum sir
as far as your zx fan replacement goes it is pretty easy to do if you can use a soldering iron. its 2 wires the fans are pretty in expensive to pick up . i got mine from a forum member here. but i think you can match it at radio shack and some computer stores. i would recomend the 11 blade fan upgrade to help it run cooler.

Is Panaflo readily available just about anywhere?
pretty much, you see the spec's I quoted for those fans, I suggest you find the spec's on the fan your buying before you buy it by goggling the part number. I have some fans that actually flow 7 cfm more air and work fine in these amps. As I stated I have had ZERO failures of my fan replacements, although you should be current conscience about your choice, and try to stay with 0.050 milli-amps of the original rating just for safe operating room.
Its under a variable drive control operation so its current load is dependent on your amp temperature.
Good luck

Didn't you just say "0.26 amp" and "0.19 amp" above? That's a difference of .07 amp, or 70 milli-amps. Now I'm confused.
I am trying to steer you safe, the drive circuit should be able to handle at least 250 ma by it overall design, but I try not push anybodies luck. The fan I listed has worked very well for the last three years in all of my repairs, I have had Zero warranty issues. And it moves more air then stock. The DBA noise figure is a bit higher, but I have yet to have anyone say my replacement is too loud..

Re:
I found these fairly cheap, going to go with the Panaflow model.1moreamp wrote:The original fan part number is ADDA AD0812HB-D71
12 volts DC at 0.19 amps draw
this is a29.9 CFM fan & blade
I use successfully:
Panaflow model # FBA08T12H
12 volts DC at 0.26 amps draw
this is a 33CFM fan 11 blade
I have had ZERO failures using this fan

Re: Fan Replacement on a ZX350
yeah the adda fans in the V2 move maybe more air, but they are annoying loud....
good for heavy listeners, but for lower volumes really frustrating......
with multiple amps in the trunk, it can get very noiseful..........
i personally love the V1 panaflo fans.....
would love to know where they can still be found. didn't found them at mouser or newark yet...
digikey perhaps ?? somebody has a link ??

Just ordered (2) Panaflow model # FBA08T12H for $28.00 shipped, not bad considering most vendors have them for $35.00-$70.00 each in both new and refurbished.
Brain eating zombie thread resurrected...arrrrgg

where did you order those ?? do you have a link ??
Re: Re:
Apparently they are out of stock on the Panaflow model, but they offered me an alternative with a ball bearing center for the same price. If all goes well I'll pop you over the info if you're still interested in the alternative model fan.zeropoint0.5 wrote:JayGold wrote:stipud wrote:ZOMBIE THREAD![]()

Confirmed they are out of stock on the Panaflow unit, but will be ordering more in near future. So they offered me the Delta unit for the same price.zeropoint0.5 wrote:@ Jaygold

The walking dead..

So what would be a good choice when it comes to low noise, below: 34.0 dBA ? I never push my amps for long periods of time and this zx350 will only be running a single 12" boston(high sensitivity) in bridge mode. Maybe a pair of mtx black gold 10" later on.
I can´t have a leafblower ruining my sq
