Looking for a suitable replacement

Post by stephenjha »

I lost my ever reliable pair of PG amps a few few weeks ago in the usual manner and I am tiring of listening to the fabulous sounds of silence as I drive. The heart of my system was a ZX450 and ZX500 which put up with every kind of abuse that I could send their way. I went and looked at some of the new offerings and am not impressed with the Chinese made crap. So what is a guy to do? I have a M50 that I can dust off and could pick up a M44 and use that. I also have been looking at the titanium series amps and they look pretty nice.

The "fine folks" who borrowed my gear were nice enough to leave me with my deck, changer, and front & rear deck speakers, but did take the the amps and subs.

In your opinion is the Titaniums series amps worth spending the money on or would I be better off falling back to the M series amps?

I say dust off the M50 and start from there.

The M50 and an M44 would have a little less power, but sound quality should be VERY comparable.

Well it is looking like the M44 is the way to go. Is Ebay the best route to source one? Or does anyone here have one for sale? On Ebay it looks like 100-150 is the current market for average condition used M44. There is a nicer one there right now witht he box/manual, but is the 255 price tag a bit high?

thanks!! :D
