Well time to finally install my stereo into my new(to me) truck. 2000 F150 super cab (2door extended cab with 2 rear half doors) After totaling the S10 and having to drive on OEM sound for a month im desperate.
I have this to work with:
Xmax 8 (midbass)
ZPM130 (5" drivers)
ZPM100 (4"drivers)
ZR Tweeters with xo
and a ZX475ti amp to drive this all.
I have come up with a few suggestions, would like to hear your opinion on what may sound the best
1- midbass in kick panels, mid+tweet stock door location
2- midbass in kick panels, mid in stock door location and tweet in kick panel
3- midbass in kick panel, mid in stock door tweet in A-pillar
4- midbass in door(will it fit?) mid+tweet in kick
5- midbass in door, tweet+mid in A-pillar
6- go 2 way active with new drivers
If I put the midrange in the door, it would be the 5's, same with the kicks. If I go the extreme route of putting it in the A-Pillar it would be the 4.
I am not afraid to start cutting, or fiberglassing most anything. I want to leave doors stock looking IF possible. Would flush mount the tweet if necessary though.
On a side note, how much clearance is necessary on top of a Ti series amp for proper airflow without cross flow fans?

I say whatever you do, keep the tweet and the mid close to each other and they go best in the kicks. Keep in mind, that's just my opinion.
Then, you just have to decide where to put the midbass. Some people have had success with midbass in the dash... I can't recall specifics right now though. I would see if you can't make kicks that combine all three drivers, maybe going further "back" as the drivers get smaller.... sounds weird, I know... but if you've got the drive to fabricate, might be worth it.
I personally like kickpanels, if you couldn't tell

BEST PLD and IMO best way to go
Tweet and 5" Mid in Kicks, 8" XMAX Doors (as close to kicks as possible)
Since your using a the passive it is a 100% must to keep the tweet and midrange on the same plane and as close as possible. I would also use the 5" to give you a lower Xover point as 4" cant really play well below 250hz, which isnt IMO isnt as good as being able to go to like 100hz or 150hz.
If I were you with your gear, Tweets and 5" angled to your licking in Vented kicks crossed at 100hz w/ a 24db slope. Then Xmax 8s in the doors IB to cover 100hz to 50hz w/ another 24 db slope, and then subs there on.

#4 method.
If the 8's don't fit in the door then you can fabricate a new panel to go on top of your door or you can get some 8 midbass that will fit in the door OR get some 6.5 midbass.
