I love those sockets. All the extra ones i've accumulated were always for starter kills and thus didn't have a lead for the 87a pin.

Ditto on the socket love. I used to set mine up with spades... what a nuisance! I've shorted stuff out a few times trying to squeeze spades in under the dash. Then i found these sockets, and I've been in heaven since then.

If it is a low power and small sized relay needed, I go with OMRON, but for larger models, Bosch all the way.

listed top down in order of preference:

Omron - little feller rated 30A
Bueller - standard bosch size, has built in spike suppression and is rated for 40A
Bosch - rated 30A
Potter Brumfeld - rated 30A

I wonder what my two 30A relays (in parallel) are... I'm using them for my offroad light rack with 4 x 100W bulbs. They seem to work just fine. I should take a look.

If those bulbs are really 100 watts, then I am uncle sam.

Have you mounted that rack since moving to Vancouver? I think you need to start blinding the people in East Hastings for fun.

Yeah, I mounted it for some camping with Martin and Liz once. I'm trying to convince my neighbor to take his Jeep Cherokee out for a ride to Stave Lake with me but we'll see. No winches but I got a tow rope, which should be good enough if we take turns playing in the bad shit. There's also a guy who lives in a our building with a MINT Landcruiser but I'm not sure I could convince him to come out or not... don't really know him.

I also need to get my full size spare thing done and figured out before I can really hit the trails, anyways.

For what? Just running the remote? 40 amps is about 40 times more than you need to worry about for that, so any of the relays would be fine.
