bass cube dial help

Hi there my buddy bought a bass cube and when we hooked it up the cube worked and by worked I mean it allowed signal through the unit and the led came on but the remote led didnt come on and would not work at all I assumed the cable was the problem so I replaced the cable with my phone line that I know worked and still no go. So I contacted a member that had a cube for sale and when I tried his cube and dial I got the same problem he told me that he thought his wire was broken as he had the same problem I thought that was pretty strange that it happened twice can anyone tell me if it is a simple phone cable that is used or what, and does anyone have a working unt for sale if it is my dial...thanks...

and yes simple phone cable should work...one you can buy at Radio shack or wall mart etc.

I know the knob pulls out I tried that but no go
