Elite 6 crossover point

Post by perseus417 »

Well I got the components all installed. Sealed and deadened the doors. I have an Eclipse Head unit that has some crossover points on it 63, 80, 100 and when I set the sub, it automatically sets the highs at the same point, I can't choose different crossover frequencys. Right now I have it set at 63 hz and 12 db slope (as steep as it will allow). My question is, is this too low a frequency for the mids? Im running about 150-170 wrms to them. Should I keep it at 63 or maybe bump it up to 80?

Do whatever sounds best. The Elite 6 can definitely play down low if installed properly, but it won't have the force or impact of a subwoofer.

63hz with 2nd order slope is kinda pushing it for 6 1/2"...personally Id bump it up to 80hz but like Tom (the lobster) said if it sound sgood it sounds good.

Ok, I'm going to bump it up to 80hz next time I get in the car to be a little more safe. Thanks.

I have an Eclipse CD8455 HU and obviously the Xover function is different in yours. If I recall, I have my Elites set at 63Hz at 24dB. I can store up to 5 different xover/eq settings and the one mentioned above is my number one choice.

The number 2 setting I have the Elites x'd over at 80Hz @12dB. Some music I listen to sounds better at that. Blessthefall I have to listen to at that seting.

Then again my sub xover point is independent from that of the mids.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."
