RSD 10 Question
I have these and I have some qeustions for you pro PG members. Well, I was tired of buying crap on eBay and getting fleeced so I bought retail. $300 for these 2 which I thought was high but hey I am use to eBay prices. I put um in a .5ft3 box each and to me the air space seems like nothing. I dont understand how they can do anything in such a small shoe box. But I am impressed. The best thing about these is the low bass under 50hz. Ok but I cant get them to sound better. I had a pair of Idq's on an old Sony M3 and they friggin sang like birds. I use a JL 500/1 now. To me the amp is the best class D amp out there. But is class D so bad that it would kill the SQ of these RSd's? What I noticed on all the PG subs I have owned is the really nice, tasty low end. But its not exactly the SQ speaker I am lookin for. Close but not so much. So what can I do? Any recomendations? I cant get the RSD 5.25's to blend well with these 10's either. And I got a CDA9887 I am using for x-over points.

Well. I do have a bigger box that has about a cube per side so I might try that with some styrofoam bricks to take up some space. Or I could maybe use some polyfill.
The xover point for the rear 5.25's is set at 160hz with a 12db slope cause for some reason they have deeper bass then the front speakers. I thinks its cause the rear door has more airspace. The fronts I can do 100 to 125 but lower than that and they will shit a brick. The sub I do 65hz cause the sound gets really scewed up any higher. I get really overwhelmed with the midbass coming from the 10's if I do any higher. I actually like it at 50hz with a 18 or 24db cutoff or a 40hz cutoff with 12db slope. But the mids dont go low enough to make things blend well. Maybe its my doors airspace. I have no room for kickpods. I did a real good job of sealing the speakers in the doors. No air leaks. Ill try the phase to see if it fixes anything. The soundstage on these components is really good. The subs seem to take more power than I thought. The louder its gets it seems the more power they want! The old Titanium series was like that.

the rsd 5's can definitely play lower then that!
i just installed a pair in a jeep wrangler. the are crossed over at 60hz on a rsd 250.2
i think you are either getting cancellation in your doors, or the phase is funky. the over all airspace shouldn't be of concern, just weather or not they have a solid baffle
and the rsd10 will take danm near whatever you want to throw at them. i was powering on of a xenon 600.1 for a while...took it and loved it

Update
Before hitting the mall today with my twin, I decided to hook up the DVD player and check my speaker wires. WHat do you know I had one of the front speakers wires reversed! I put it right and wow. It made a huge difference. Its better big time. I also put the 10's in a 1ft3 box each and stuffed the shit out of um with poly fill. Smooth and blended like Captain Morgan
Thanks peeps.

Maybe I'm being dumb but how did hooking up the dvd player help you find out if your wires were reversed.?nick-caper wrote:Before hitting the mall today with my twin, I decided to hook up the DVD player and check my speaker wires. Re: Update
Chances are he had to pull the H/U out to install the dvd player, and while he had it out he could see the connections behind the H/U.billyrohm wrote:
