Talked to Tom about it and he said it was cool to make a post offering my services. So here's the link.

What'd I do, spell it HEAR?
Thanks guys. don't be afraid to send people my way if they need it.
As for boxes go,
I can build the whole thing and ship it. Basic or specific.
I could build it w/o the glue and silicone, take it back apart an send a print on how to put it together, sort of like a shelf deal you'd by at Wal*Mart or so. Send the glue, silicone, and screws w/it. Charge a bit less an might not cost as much to ship as well. A do-it-yourself kit.
Custom is built and shipped. Custom as in fiberglassed.

"Kenny" at Stereo King on 82nd is probly the best around. He's the guy that did the orange civic cvcc hatchback with 2 SOLO-X 18's and 4-KX1500.1 strapped to each woofer. He does ALL of the high-end boat installs and the TOTALLY custom installs. He helped me with the box for my 4 Ti 12's. If anybody has a chance to swing in there, take a look at the pictures on the wall and it's 90% all his work.Wakeup wrote:you spelled it Her

Unless you intend to ship by common carrier truck, weight will determine shipping cost more than size. The only bennifit to 'breaking down' a box for shipping is you can get more on a pallatte which is only important to common carriers. UPS will only charge more for size if it exceeds 60" in any direction.smgreen20 wrote: I can build the whole thing and ship it. Basic or specific.

I had a box company try to sell me on this idea and I bought some only to realize that the only real bennifit to anyone was that they could ship more in a specific amount of space. And that was only important to someone ordering massive amounts. With me buying 8-10 qty's they shipped UPS so the cost to ship to me was the same as if it were assembled. Except now I had to put them together.
Not to mention, you are counting on the end user being able to assemble it correctly. And the only way to insure that is to dado all joints. which ends up being more work in manufacturing. So the extra expense of the manu process offsets the savings of shipping. And thats only if you're shipping 20-30 at a time.
